Having spent almost nine months working on my build (PPP 426 w/ 2.9L Whipple) I have heard enough bad stories to realize **** happens on these builds. Enough to cause lots of frustration especially when good monies are invested . For the average Joe it is difficult to seperate the b/s from the reality sometimes. These forums should be an open sounding board but it seems sometimes those with a specific agenda dirty the water. If you are spending the money get clear answers before parting with your dollars. If you cannot get a clear answer look elsewhere. There are definitely several people out there who want to help and some who want to fulfil a self interest. It really is buyer beware and it pays to do your homework and talk to as many sources as possible. I find PM's a good way to get information and avoid the politics of the forums. These personal impressions are the result of spending $ 100K and do not refer to any particular vendor or product. The best vendors definitely stood out and were obviously the ones to work with based on the information they supplied and their obvious interest and professional abilities.
"Techco terminated its staff and closed its doors on Friday. Customers who have transactions in progress need to take steps to see that their ducks are in a row. This is not general knowledge yet. I'm just a vendor here but I am also a member and administrator of a large automotive forum and I heard this from someone they offloaded some of their shop projects onto... Towed over vehicles with blowers... but no motors. Right now the owners are praying that the arrangements they have been told about, that will get their paid-for motors built, are going to come through. That source also has had this confirmed from people within Techco. Don't want to say any more than that. Just wanted to get out some word for people who may have in-progress builds and such."
umm, who posted that Paul? and where? It sounds like someone from here posted that over there and now you've posted what he posted over there back over here again :stars: haha, read post #19.
As I've stated before. Let this play out. Paul this is old info, we've had updates contrary to what you've posted. Getting this info from another site that was 2nd hand isn't helping this at all. I don't think we have to worry about anyone buying anything from Techo now, as they aren't even answering the phones. I'm sure I know more about this than most, but I really don't know anything for sure at this time. Assurances have been made that the motors will be completed, that the installs will be completed, and other issues will be addressed as they arise. Until we hear an official announcement of Techco's closure or evidence that none of the above is being taken care of, we will be in the wait and see mode for awhile.
It's from the Cherokeesrt8....i haven't read it over here I'd consider this announcement pretty official.... It's from a vendor on a Mustang forum
It's kind of like Tom Sawyer painting the fence. Someone on Cherokeesrt8 quoted a vendor on a Mustang forum who says "I heard this from someone they offloaded some of their shop projects onto... " Not sure how official I'd consider that. I'll go with Hal on the wait and see.
Yes, let's wait it out some and see. Techco may not have been able to make this work in the form and size that they were. That is not to say that someone who can bring the size and scope down of the operation while still manufacturing, etc. couldnt do it. There is more of a learning curve to their product but the big expenses have mostly been realized, time now to market, sell and support and develop some momentum..... If none of that occurs, I guess some of us will be running "collectors items" under our hood!! Hopefully somone will buy up the parts.......... Wow.......................
Wayne wont let the Techco blower die. They are trying to get a new building. Thats all I'm going to say.
Trying? Wouldn't the word "moving" indicate that they already have a new building? I have no idea what is going on with them, but some communication to the their customers is never a bad idea.
thanks..... at least someone was thinking of me......:erm: from all the people i have chatted with, i would sit tight for a short time and let the dust settle and see where things are with techco. brad makes good points and i would not doubt they are too far off the mark........ well hopefully anyway!
The more horror stories I hear about forum vendors supplying engine components....the more I wonder. It seems like be happy with when they tell you the work will be done...but expect it in 3 months not 3 weeks. Then assume you did not get what you wanted so verify everything. ..
