From Autogeek.com: "Care and Cleaning: The California Car Dusters work best when they’re dirty. Just shake them out before and after each use. Should your duster ever become so dirty that it requires an actual cleaning, just wash it in cold water with a mild detergent (like Woolite) and let it air dry."
Yup. I have an Original California Duster from the EARLY 90's. Of course I no longer use it, it still works great and I have never washed it.
For just around $9 now, if it gets too trashed, just grab a new one. Don't forget the newspaper trick prior to use.
you must set a new cali duster on newspaper first before actually using it. the excess paraffin wax in the yarn of the duster must be absorbed out of it before use or it will leave streaks. also, unless you have oil or actual grease, do not clean it....the dirtier the better. i have had mine since 1991, broke off handle and all, and it still works like a champ!!!!
Wonder how the handle got broke? Must have either stuck it somewhere it wasn't supposed to be or either it was the red handle one and he didn't see it and stepped on it and broke it!
