Just saw this thread guys. Yes, a couple of the intake bolts loosened up over time and I admit I didn't check them for along time after my H/C/I install back in Oct. of 08'. I was having oil consumption issues for about a year that I couldn't put my finger on and apparently I was burning it in the combustion chamber from the leaking gaskets. The car ran noticebly rougher the last couple of months and a few weeks ago I noticed an intermittent backfire out the driver's side exhaust when it was cold. The leak became real apparent when we put oil in the car and it came gushing out of the intake on the driver's side(the deformed one). Since the factory gaskets have been installed, my car runs much smoother and no more backfire out the driver's side exhaust. I will bet my oil consumption issue has also stopped. The intake bolts were torqued down to factory specs during my H/C/I install, so like I said in the other thread. Keep an eye on them and make sure they stay torqued down.
Sorry...I just saw this. IDK what it is but I have seen shops use the stuff...kind of a watered down version of Permatex or something...they used a small roller, like a paint roller, to apply the stuff on each side of the gaskets. I noticed it was still more than tacky when I had my intake off. I had to retorque mine initially. After that they have never loosened again.
I think this is the key. I'm not suggesting that anyone pull there's off unless they suspect a problem, but check the bolts every now and then and make sure they're tight. I'm just happy my car's running real good now!
you should see the crap I got in my garage for this pig LOL BT Ported TB Stack intake spacers Stack sway bars H&R springs Magnaflow mids Corsa sport catback (will be selling) Corsa xtreme catback AMG paddle shifters Nitto 305/35/20 DRs 17" wheels and DRs for the track And will possibly be getting some Koni sport (yellow) struts/shocks soon. I blame you guys:ilovesrtc:
I bought it b/c I liked the sound, but more importantly, the lack of drone. But I always disliked the way the cannister style resos looked from the back of the car. Shortly after I bought it, they released the Xtreme version which has much better looking resos (IMO), and I like the deeper tone as well. Seemed like a win win for my situation... Once the Xtreme meets my satisfaction, the Sport will be up for sale. Brand new, still in the boxes...
I put in the Stack intake spacers a couple of weeks ago and have had no issues whatsoever. Damn easy install, too.
Aren't the Stack ones essentially the GS Motorsports ones (Ryan worked for GS Motorsports didn't he)? Didn't the GS Motorsports ones have problems with leaking? and wasn't there a concern about them being thicker and creating a dog-leg in the intake tract? Naw, I'm sure they are fine
