i hooked up the bwoody yesterday. no problems but one concern: the filter sits in a place which i have no access to without unbolting the lower cai tube. the only way i was able to get the bolt that secures the cai bracket to the fender bracket tightened was by jacking up the front right of the rig and sending a guy down there to hold the nylock nut in place while i torqued the nut from the top. in the future, i want to be able to undo this bolt by myself in order to clean the filter, what tools/techniques do i need to use to undo this bolt myself? also, what's the best way to clean the cone filter?
It's not the easiest removal for cleaning but it was the only location we could use without you having to modify your vehical. We've never had to use a jack for install though you should be able to torque the bolt from the top a ratcheting wrench and a box end wrech is all you need. Weve installed so many of these it's like second nature right now...lol. use soap and water to clean, and make sure you purchase a k&n cleaning kit so you can re-oil.
ok thanks. k&n's site recommends cleaning the cone filter every 100k miles or so, i didn't expect that # to be so high. figure that estimate's on the $?
Promo thats what i also saw thats why ill probley get a volant. Much easier to install and clean filter and there both about the same in hp & tq increase. Remember it takes 1.5 hp to get you 1 hundredth and if the cai gets you 10 hp that 6.6 hundredth. If you look at it that way its not a good bang for the buck as i c it.
Cleaning is easy with K&N reoiling kit, just follow the instructions included. I clean mine every 15-20k miles, as cotton and oil filters flow better when slightly dirty. Just remember when cleaning do not use pressurized water and flush from the inside of the filter to the outside--to push contaminants/debris outward. Also make sure the filter is completely dry before reoiling and give it time to absorb the spray on oil before reinstalling.
I WANT IT I WANT IT.........NOT! But back to the original question, the bwoody is very easy to install and remove. Just have a wrench or a ratchet wrench and a little 1/4 inch drive ratchet. No need to jack up the front, all can be done from the top
Stroke thats a bargin but im going to try and stay bone stock and c just how much i can get out of the jeep. My NHRA pure stock class index is 13.15 1/4 mile and 8.33 1/8 mile and im sure i can get that being bone stock with a good DA.
