Well folks....thanks for putting up with me the last year while planning out how to spend a portion of my reenlistment bonus. But, I had an epiphany a few weeks ago. We have a two year old daughter that is in daycare and my wife's company merged with two other companies a couple months ago and she now hates her job. We did the math and with her working and our daughter in daycare she only added about $1000 a month. My bonus was $52,000 and if we took Gabrielle out of daycare and my wife quit her job we could just bank the bonus and draw off it as needed. So my wife quit her job last week and is now a stay at home mom. We both feel really good about this and know this is time she will never get back with Gabrielle. Yep, I know! But, I've submitted two contracts for my troop for advanced racing schools for later this year. So, I'll be able to cope some how! LOL

The one mod I still plan on doing is installing the AMG paddle shifters. I've been wanting to pay Ralph to do it, but I'm not sure if he ever installed his or not. Ralph - are you still up for this? You name the price....I know you have the requisite ability to install them. If you don't have the time or its too much of a pain in the ass, where would you recommend I get them done in the SOCAL area?
No, I had knee surgery yesterday....or was it Tuesday....yep Tuesday. I've been sitting here the past two days in the same chair cruising the forums all doped up on Percocet. I am once again realizing tonight that it goes pretty good with a vodka tonic! I've also realized that I love the way my car runs as is and being able to financially have my wife stay at home with the kiddo is a pretty damn good feeling. I'm sure I'll still be able to do some of the smaller mods like sub frame connectors, bump steer kits, etc!
It was just a scope (meniscus). It's the second one on this knee. I also had the other knee done last year. Meniscus scopes are like the hang nail of knee surgeries. More of a pain in the ass than anything....nothing serious.
That's good to hear. and having a full time mom at that stage for kids is a great idea if you can swing it.
This goes back to our convestation on the phone the other day! I'm glad to hear the wifey is going to stay home with Gabby. Money is tight in our house hold, but I'm glad the wife is at home with the kids. In the end it will be the best thing for Gabby and you guys. You can always mod the car later, but you can never go back in time with your daughter. :maddy:
Yay for stay-at-home moms. I'm not sure how we're going to swing it when I finish school. Looks like my portfolio will last me just long enough to finish school and then I'll need to start working to maintain our current situation. We really don't want to move out of Northern California, but between the economy and the cost of living we may have to. Pretty much negates any serious mods, car fun or *sigh* Challengers any time before Maddy goes to college. But yeah, family comes first. I'm just glad the charger works great as the family car and its paid for. So chin up, you still have racing school opportunities and hell of a plan to work on when time and funds allow. :happy:
