cant you just keep the hoses and then just take it off when you go to get an inspection...it installs and comes off in like 12 seconds lol
Smog Test....ehhh I have owned about 9 cars since I have moved to CA in late 70's. I used to do field service from 1981 - 1998, so I used to burn up the miles driving all over So Cal and Arizona. (yearly average of over 120+ a day). Because of the size, and cost of the equipment I used, it was usually easier to drive than hassle with shipping. I drove as far north as San Francisco, as far south as Ensenada, Mexico, and as far west as Tucson, AZ. Now I seem to fly to farther places mostly (I have almost 1 million miles on United Airlines alone since '81 and presently have about 900,000 Priority Club points with Holiday Inn). Most of the time I had 2 cars, one for work and one for home. So the home cars had usually low miles (especially the wife's, cause she doesn't work....uuhhhhh..I definately didn't mean it that way dear it's just that you don't work away from the house). I had a '99 mustang (my wifes car) that had less than 21,000 miles on it when i gave it to my son in 2005. So I have been to the smog test station a few times. My SRT8 (my Work car.....lol) is almost 2 years old and has 15,000 miles...but work is only 6 miles away if I have to travel the Airport is about 15 miles. Tips for CA smog tests.. Remember... there are "Smog Test Only" stations and "Smog Test and Repair" stations. GO to the small "Smog Test ONLY" Stations. NOT a "Smog Test and Repair" Station. There are 3 that I have used in Corona. All they do is hook up the instrumentation and run the test. They are not a Repair Station...so there is no goal to upset a customer because they "see' something they don't understand...they don't appear to me to do any "looking" around. The only thing they appear to "inspect" is the information they get from their instruments.
Thanks Nathan. Yea, it all sux, I know it's different from county to county too. Last time I got a smog done on my other car I was asking the guy bout it all nowadays and he said it depends on the county you're in too. For example in Santa Cruz County (I'm in Santa Clara) which is 20 miles away they don't require the test only roller check, just a standard one WITHOUT any dyno rollers at all. Luckily for us here in Cali now you don't have to smog a new car for 6 years from the date of purchase (up from 4) so I don't have to worry bout it for quite a while. Smogging is such a pita though it ALMOST makes me want to start getting a new car every 6 years you know? Lol!
I will sell you mine for $100 shipped. Still new, never installed, Only out of the box once to look at it.
