i was woundering if there is a way to clean a hks blow off valve or why is doesnt sound as loud as it did at first any help or info would be great thanx
What style do you have? Is it the adjustable HKS or the non-adjustable? The way to tell the two apart is the adjustable has a knob on the back hat of the bov. Taking apart the HKS bov is simple. As the face of it is held by allen style bolts and has a rubber type of gasket diaphram. Inspect the gasket diaphram and internals. Check for any abstruction that may have gotten into the bov as excess oil from the PCV route usually ends up in the UPP (coldside pipe) track line and could adversely end up in the bov and shoot out from it. Also check for boost leaks as this could be a reason for the change of pitch.
il take a look at it and let you know if its adj or not but i know it is a super sequential blow off valve
yeah, its real easy to take apart and clean. if you search around google, you will find DIYs to take the whole thing apart. i still need to take my front piece off and get that stupid valve insert out, so my car doesnt sound like tweety bird getting his head hacked off every time i shift.
30 sec google search of 'taking apart HKS' yielded this. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-123618234.html
