Lisa- I just spoke with Chris on the phone (very helpful), but he said you were the pro with this stuff, so here comes the question:
Am I doing something wrong?

The instructions say to "wipe lightly and vigirously", so that's a little confusing, but I applied 2 coats of the Green Stuff to each of the cleaned rear wheels.

    BEFORE:

    AFTER:

The product did not turn black (as the directions stated it would), nor did it go 'dark gray' as Chris had seen in his past uses of the product. There's light 'ghosting' on the wheel surface now, but no black or dark gray.

My cloth sure did get gray:

I applied healthy doses to the cloth and then wiped 'firmly' throughout approx. 8" of the circumference of the wheel and continued that all the way around. Each coat took about 10-15 minutes per wheel.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry, but it's midnight here and I need to get the wheels back on the truck so I can drive it tomorrow.

I just got home, and Chris told me to check out this thread before I signed off for the night, so gimme a few minutes and I'll write-up some tips for you. It's almost 12:30a here. ;)

These wheels are not coated, correct? Assuming they aren't, here are a few thoughts based on your pictures. It looks like you're using too much product at a time. Try putting a nickel size amount on your rag and work with it in a smaller area, maybe a couple of inches or so. Also, unfold the rag so it's a single layer and you can apply good pressure with your index and middle finger. I've had a lot of success applying pressure just like you would if you were sanding the surface - that type of motion. The harder the pressure, the greater the polishing effect and the better the end result. If the rag gets dirty (and it should) move to another spot on the rag and repeat the process. It make take a few times like this in each area since the surface is so hard and damaged, but let me know if that works for you.

    Lisa.

    Lisa-
    Thanks.
The wheels are uncoated (and thus the pitting...heh heh).
I was using a nickel-size to quarter-size amounts of GreenStuff on the rag, and using firm pressure while applying. If I pushed any harder, I'd have to resort to power tools.
I did 2 coats on each wheel, then wiped them dry. I must say that the unpitted areas came out nice and clean.
I did a 3rd coat late tonight, but ended up with the same results.

The rears are back on the truck. It's my daily driver so I can't really have them off for more than a few hours at a time.

I'll try the "nickel-size; single rag layer; firm pressure with 2 fingers" method when I get a chance to do the front wheels. Hopefully with better results.

    Thanks for the help.
