    Why Not?

would you have to cross the wires?

And I didnt see that on my Batt....They were on the "other side" of the battery...maybe thats why?

    The batt looks like this....

My OEM Positive and Neg were not "swapped" just on the "top" of the batt if your looking at it in this pic. Same as when I took my OEM out?

    Am I missing something here?

I'm sorry, they aren't swapped from positive to negative, the side the posts are on are opposite OE...left to right.

Positive and negative are swapped. So if you turn the battery around to get the posts on the right ends then they are on the other side. Get it? So you just need about 6" of slack in the cable to reach across the width of the battery to get to the posts. No idea if you have top clearance issues doing that. Like on the Magnum you have the load floor right above the battery and it sort of has depressions in it for the posts (kind of). The battery is the same height. It does not have the little feet on the bottom for the bolt down clamp. If you have a clamp that goes across the top then no problem. On the LX's we have a strap that goes around the battery. You can cinch it in with that and it's fine. For roll overs the Magnum has that load floor that would keep it in place vertically.

PICS would help. snap a shot of your battery (so the posts and cables are visible)

This is a 5.7 Hemi Jeep basically same as the 6.1, will the stock terminals pull over the Sears battery and reach the connections, is there enough play/slack in the lines to reach over the new battery?

Sorry Dave I have asked for a picture of our setup but do you ever get the feeling that as much as you help others when its your time for help no one can do it for you!!!

    Here is a 6.1 jeep with a Odyssey 925

If you have 6" of slack in the cable so they can reach across the battery width you'll be fine. In your pic they're on the back side of the battery (away from you). with the Platinum P-2 they would be on the front side (towards you).

and you won't be able to use the bottom clamp if that's what you have. Might need to make something or a cargo strap. Shouldn't be a problem.

Those look shorter (more square) than on the LX's. The P-2 might be a much better fit than it is on our cars.

By the way. Those are covered under warranty for 3 years. I missed it by 2.5 weeks and might have done it since my dealer replaces with Interstate batteries which aren't too bad. Mine has been pretty much dead for over 6 months.

All depends on if they think you have a clue... :bigwink:

I wanted the marine/deep cycle model but it was humongous so we talked a bit about fitment and specs and looked at the battery box in the car and looked at the ones that might fit. Then he got me a hand cart so if the one I picked didn't fit I could wheel it back in and wheel a different one out to try it. I did the swap in the parking lot. That way you can leave the core and get $10 back right then and there.

** if you take the plastic covers off the terminals you bought it. Otherwise you can take it back and swap it **

For some odd reason the warranty on the regular Platinum is way better than on the Marine/deep cycle model. go figure. I guess it's because of probable use conditions.

Okay picked one up today for $183.00 guy asked me if it was for a Ford and shook my head no, then he said race car? and I shook my head yes!!!

Well here is what I ran into during the install. The Sears battery is almost the exact same size as the OEM one. It same height and a little smaller width wise but front to back its a tad larger so I had to shave down the back side of the battery plate that hold the batter in place, no biggie used the dremel and shop vac (cant get the engine bay dirty). Dropped the battery in and secured the front down. Then I realized there was no way the straps were coming over the battery due to how our terminals are made they have a bend on the wire and then a swivel piece that attaches to the battery. Given the bend in the ends I had to shift the battery over as far to passenger side as I could and make the bend flat so that it would fit, anyway got it done and she cranked right up.

This would of been so easy if the terminals were swapped but oh well its on and working

Nice. Sounds like you were able to use the stock clamps.

I thought it looked that way. Apparently the stock LX batteries are a lot longer, maybe just a touch wider and have the tabs on the bottom for the clamps.

While I was looking (and I think it was Optimas I was searching on) I came across some off road forum where these guys were using bus bars. Mainly to extend the connector and also for convenient mounting of accessory power leads.

So you get a piece of strap (whatever metal they use for bus bars). It has a battery clamp on one end and a battery terminal mounted on the flat on the other end. Then if you wanted you could drill holes or put studs in it for accessory power connections. You could look for something like that or make one to put the terminals back where they were originally.
