here are some pics that the misses took before work. her work offers us a good place to watch the balloons go up. but what sucks the most is traffic though not as bad this year. sorry for the clearty of the pics most of them were taken at max zoom. more pics at http://www.fquick.com/garages/viewgallery.php?albumid=10&carid=23058
those are some crazy lookin balloons! id love to take a hot air balloon ride. nevin, take one with me!
Great pics Nevin. Tell Paula thanks. Yea, it looks like there are not as many balloons this year as in the past. Traffic ALWAYS sucks this time of year. haha However, the city and state have made loads of road and highway improvements last year, so it should help a little. I watch the balloons from the house.
they still fail because alemeda is still a 2 lane road and not a 3 lane. yeah we watch before she starts work and i watch them from my office window. and right at this moment the winds have changed from North to south back to south to north so all of the balloons are headed back toward the field.
haha Yea, Alameda will NEVER change. They need to make a road from the backside of 4th st. Oh well. Yup, the good wind change that makes the "Box". haha The weather has been GREAT this year. Well, so far. hahahahahahahaha
yeah but we still got that big storm that supose to blow threw sunday morning. it seams like that happens every year at the end. well i have no more balloons to look at now. they are all by the field now. it was nice for the last 1.5 hrs when they were flying by my window.
Saw on the news that one of them crashed... http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-10-10-nm-balloon-basket_N.htm?csp=34
yeah i just watched that too. one died and one is in critical condition after hitting powerlines in Rio Rancho on 528 the propane tanks exploded and the gondla fell and the balloon caught fire. and in Placitis a girl was dragged by a balloon and a 10 yr old boy was taken to UNMH after a hard landing.
this morning they were drifting south like normal then the winds changed and they headed north very fast and by looking at the flag in front of our building it looks like its gusting around 20mph now.
Yeah, the balloons look cool and all, but I never understood the appeal... I'm afraid of heights and to quote Ricky Bobby "I wanna go fast!" Its coming up on Fleet Week or it is fleet week here in the bay area and they're doing practice runs...makes me miss living in Alameda on the fourth floor where I got to feel/hear the planes wooshing by.
Yeah, my brother was telling me about some training exercises where he had to hang onto a rope dangling from a helicopter...
