Was on the Indiana autobahn yesterday doing some road testing and noticed that passed 130 i get a whistling noise from the front. the only thing i notice is a piece of foam in the cowl has fallen down? any others get any noises at high speeds.
well, one time i had my hood bouncing up and down by the windshield at around 160. that was because my belly pan had gone missing. got a new one put in and now nothing. car actually seems to act a little better at those higher speeds
I wonder if anyone had found a solution for this? its hard to have a conversation, i was able to snap a pic and the guy in the car just laughed his ass off. no text messaging at that high of speed though..
The problem is it comes at high speeds. Dealerships are NOT allowed to drive that fast, thus not being able to reproduce the noise. It seems to me that someone (a year ago) thought it was coming from one of the A/C inlet ducts? The wind noise I get sounds like it is coming from the top of the windshield...
all i can think about at 160 is how a 4500lb missle can cover 235 feet per second so smoothly!! the only annoyance is the noise in question. i just get in the middle of the road and look as far down it as possible.
my problem with whistling came from loose molding around the windshield. at high speeds i would get the same thing happening. i went to the dealer, told them about it and they saw the molding coming loose so they replaced it. i havent had an issue since.
That's interesting Steve. I recently had my molding repaired as well, but have not had the opportunity to make my fun spirit high speed passes. Guess I know what I am doing later this week. hehe
Lots of people had windshield seal issues back in 2006 (maybe it was mostly Jeeps?). Upper right hand corner? Unfortunately a number of them ended up with silicon sealer on their headliners too...
Yea, what Hans said ... WHERE THE HELL IS THE INDIANA AUTOBAHN?!?!? I want some of that Snow, where the heck can you drive that fast in Indiana?? Or is it sooper secret, lol! BTW, the fastest I've had my beast up to is 125 and I didn't notice any wind noise, other than the regular wind sound, wonder if it's a Charger-only thing??
Wind It's usually either an airleak in the windshield seal or the trim pieces on either side of the windshield. I've gone through several windshields, several trim pieces and several interesting noises. My favorite sounded just like a tea kettle. Sometimes they start as low as 90 mph, usually by 130, and if they're their, definitely by 160. Your mileage may vary!
I'm glad you started this thread. I get it at the track after I cross the line and before I let off the gas. Probably starts around 115. I thought that I was nuts but it happens every time. I never could figure out what the hell is making that whistling noise (just like a tea kettle).
