Food and entertainment will be available and auto-related vendors will be on site. This one-day car show is intended to increase awareness of Prostate Cancer and to generate funds for research into its causes, diagnosis and treatment. The event is staffed by unpaid volunteers, most of them Prostate Cancer survivors. Every penny of your registration fee goes to Prostate Cancer research as do net proceeds from the event. FREE PSA blood tests will be provided to men over the age of 40 during Clinic hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Confidential results will be sent directly to their own doctors. Typically, a full 10% of the men that we have tested at similar clinics have been advised to seek further diagnosis. (Of 131 men tested last year, 17 were advised to seek further diagnosis.) Prostate Cancer is a virtually silent disease that kills about 4,300 men in Canada every year. It's no longer "an old man's disease", as it strikes men in their 40's. Prostate cancer has become as serious a problem for men as breast cancer is for women. Yet our Federal Government provides little or no funding for research into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of this disease - and OHIP forces men in Ontario to pay for their PSA blood tests. This simple test is not perfect, but it is a vital first step in the process of detecting Prostate Cancer. Early detection can potentially avoid surgery and/or radiation treatments that would cost our Provincial health plan far more money. Once diagnosed, patients with more advanced Prostate Cancer can go on to live longer lives thanks to modern treatment protocols developed by dedicated researchers. Chinguacousy Park ("Ching" to Brampton residents) is a 109-acre park featuring trees, grass, lakes and streams, a garden area, miniature golf, a petting zoo and beach volleyball. The Park is handy to freeways, our host hotel (Holiday Inn Select), restaurants and other services. Please join us on September 13, 2008. Gates open at 7:30 a.m. Show hours are 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. PSA clinic hours are 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. Take a free PSA test and help us raise funds for Prostate Cancer research. All proceeds will go to The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation to be used for LEGEND, a promising new research project being conducted at Princess Margaret Hospital.
