    Makes perfect sense now.

My neighbor is a big fan of the truck.
Too bad he drives an E63 AMG.

Good questions, keep the feedback coming!!!

I understand your point-of-view and we actually discussed this at length before announcing the event and some more even after we made the announcement. When it was all said and done we agreed we wanted to keep this an "LX event" above all else. Nothing against the Viper or Truck guys but each has their own events across the country both separate and collectively as SRT's. This one is for the LX family. They are welcome to come as spectators and check out the event!!!

OMSRT8's explanation is right on point. I could not have explained it better myself. The overwhelming response to the event and vendor support convinced us it made more since to get the track for both days.

It's about a 30-35min drive from the hotels to track (the way our group drives it should not take that long); there is waaaaaaaay more stuff to do in Polaris than anywhere else on the eastside of town; also, our cars draw a LOT of attention and we were concerned with having them parked overnight at some of the hotels closer to the track. (safety, security, theft, etc.) We have to keep in mind there will be a lot of out-of-town members in Columbus for the 1st time and many bringing family members with them.

Sounds like a good possibility. Gather the details and shoot either me an e-mail or PM.

    Anthony- I hear ya.

Easton would have been a good choice too:
    - LOTS of stuff nearby, including some of the best shopping in Columbus.
    - 270 & 670 are *right there*, with easy access in and out.
    - Hilton hotel, and they just opened a new Hampton Inn.
    - Several available routes to National Trails. The "Highway Route" (270 to I-70), or "Kev's Backroads Route" (Morse Rd. to Outville Rd.) that has a few fun twists and turns.
Either way, plan on seeing PLENTY of Johnny Law; there's a State Patrol station on the Backroads route...eek!...and those with the badges ***LOVE*** sniping vehicles along 270 with their LASER speed guns.

    Maybe next year.

    Just so you know:
While there still are VCA events, the money-grubbing of Cerberus has left the Viper guys out in the breeze.
There's no coordinated SRT-10 national meet. VTCOA is pretty much just a website/forum.

Mopar Nationals is really the only annual all-encompassing event for everyone.

    For those attending:
U-TURNS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN COLUMBUS!!!
Be careful where you blow u-ies.

Ouch! I did not know that about the VCA & SRT-10 group......

Good info about the u-turns. I need to add that to the advisory list for the event. :thumb:

Yeah. I'll probably come and hang with you guys.

We can discuss the Viper stuff there (instead of in this thread...heh heh)

I'll PM you guys the info on the bar after I get a chance to talk with my neighbor about it.

    Dennis Corso's Nostalgic T/F Dragster

Well we have have been very busy so it's time for another update:

Anthony and I got our heads together and decided that we needed to have some NOISE at the LX & BEYOND NATIONALS, so we went out and hired this to come make Two Passes on Saturday:

What that is folks is a Nostalgic Top Fuel Dragster, the motor is a 392 Old School Motor that is now 400 Cubic Inches, it is blown, fuel injected and has a direct drive (no transmission). It makes around 3,000 Horse Power and has run 6.50 @ 215 mph.

We are coming and we are coming LOUD & LARGE.............

We hope to see you there

I think that Tom McEwen's HEMI-powered "Mongoose" is here in Columbus as well.

(It was one of my favorite models when I was a kid....)

Don't forget that you must send in your entry form and fee to be pre-registered for the event!!!

Although we are keeping track of the "tentative" guests on post #1-2-3, you will miss out on the opportunity for some HUGE doorprizes if you don't "OFFICIALLY" register before April 30.

*In order to keep event costs low - NO CAR SHOW entries will be accepted at the gate*

    See ya in June!!! :)

Question: THe first posts list "long sleeve shirt" as a drag race item.

There are no NHRA rules requiring a long sleeve shirt. Was this just a suggestion, or are rules going to be enforced that aren't in the NHRA rules?

NO, you can wear a short sleeve shirt, but long pants are required. I just take along a pair of sweat pants and pull them over my shorts. It gets too hot in the Summer to always wear long pants.

Gotcha. Remember to NOT wear any synthetic material. Not allowed, because fire melts it into your skin.

    • There are many room variations at BOTH locations, ask them what is available for each night of stay for the number of people you are bringing.
