so my dealer mentioned that all the Challengers would have VIN numbers associated with the Build # (as in if it was the third one built...the VIN would end in 000003 or something like that)...anyone know if this is true?

I think that it would be sweet...one of the guys thought they heard a rumor that Challenger #1 was gonna have the VIN #: 0000000000000001...but that wouldn't work as it needs letters in it...

The last 6 of the Vin identifies the line assembly number. All others identify month day location of build.

yep!!!! just talked to my viper tech today and he was telling me he just got done with some training on the chally. they had one in the place he was at and it had a 6.4 in it!!! he was telling me all kinds of stuff about the cam, gears, intake, etc. he said it is supposed to be rated about 525+ hp when it comes out in late 09. he said for sure the chally will have a6.1 initially, then go to a 392 with 3.92 gears and a 6 speed. that is the car he actually said he saw!!!

Oh BTW: Ordered mine this morning. Been first on my dealer's list for over a year. They managed to get me the 10th 2005 SRT-8 ever delivered, so I'm confident I could get mine pretty early on.

I'm just going to take all the performance bits off my current SRT-8 and put them onto the Challenger right away. My goal is to have a 10 second Challenger within months. We'll see if I can pull it off.

It was at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis over labor day weekend. The flat black one was there as well.

Now - if something happened since labor day, I wouldn't know.
