Newer member of the OC posted a picture of his CSRT going 300 kilometers per hour in Kuwait !

Seemed quite remarkable, but apparently the diablo will allow (& it was continuing to pull past 300 which triggered my BS meter).

What gives? How much more top end will a Diablo allow?!!!

Joe, 300kmh equates to roughly 180mph. Come on, you should know the conversion. hehehehe

The Diablo apparently allows us to delete the rev and speed limiter which will allow us to go even faster. Problem is, a stock SRT8 won't go much faster than 175 -180. We run out of Horsies. Now, get some bigger engine mods, and you could be knocking on 200mph's door.

Doh! I was stuck in between the whole metric conversion thing when I was a kid in the 70's...What threw me was the poster stating 190 mph in his photo but 300 kph in the title. :what:

lol I learned in Germany, back in 87 that the rule of thumb for mph conversion is multiply by 6. ;) I think the actual conversion is 6.6???

    Top Speed

A while back I ran 173 with some other guy from these forums. Both of our cars acted as if a governor was kicking in (even though the SRT Chat Sessions said "There is no limiter on the SRT-8's).

When I added the Diablo we raised the speed limiter (that doesn't exist) to 190 mph. Scott at GSM "inadvertently" upshifted to 5th gear on the dyno and the speed went up over 185 mph (with no wind resistance obviously).

I saw a post from NYC SRT that he had hit 178 mph, but ran out of room and felt the car had more.

In the not too distant future I am gonna run her up and see what the new top speed of my 300C SRT-8 is.

As for the post about 190 mph: The thread says 5500 rpm 5th gear, the picture shows 4th gear indicated, 180 mph indicated, about 5700 rpm, and no view out of the cabin (was the car on a dyno?). I am not saying these cars can't go 190 mph, I just haven't seen any "credible" evidence yet.

I'll see if I can get thet silver car to run top spped with me again, and perhaps I could convince Meister to join us...

    Dan,

You're correct. I got her up to 178 and will attempt it again tomorrow with video. Hopefully the track I will be on tomorrow will have a long enough straight...
