So, i have a few gallons of VP 112 octane. Right now i am running the 91 CAI tune. I have the corsa without cats, stock headers and aria and BT catch can. Is it best to bump up to the 93 CAI with the 112 and add a bit of timing(maybe 1 or 2 degrees) or will the car learn the octane itself. Thanks for any input. Plan on racing in the morning.
I have seen O2 sensors fail within a few miles on leaded....and some have went thousands of miles........cats usually are killed very quickly....I would just use 100 unleaded....your engine will be happier..
Thanks for the input. Hmmm, it was a spur of the moment decision. I think i will just mix a little 112 in with the unleaded and see what happens. Thanks.
Add a little time and you will feel the difference...I actually had a tune for 110 leaded at one time and caught me by surprise the first time I tried at the track...truck pulled noticably stronger............I quit using it because of how dirty it made the oil & plugs......put a film on my tailgate from the exhaust that I cannot get off...made the paint slightly hazy........ Just be careful messing with the timing... ..
Thank you sir! I am gonna mix it with the 91 to dilute it a bit. 1/4 of 91 and 2.5 gallons of 112 and see what it does. Thanks guys! Much appreciated.
Well here is the outcome. Today's best was a [email protected]. Her best trap speed was a 112.22. Her best 60' was a 1.94(on the nitto 420@18 psi), Previously her best was a [email protected] with a 60' of 2.04. My buddy with a 300 srt8 also added 2.5 gallons of 112 to his 91 and previously he could not break his 13.1. Today he did with a 12.89. So, i was REALLY impressed with the time's she ran. It seemed to work at a mix of 2.5 gallons to roughly 5 gallons of regular fuel. No problems with any CEL's. It was also 9* celcius(50*farenheit or so) not sure all that other stuff you guys now. I do know the elevation at gimli dragway is 720'. All in all if it burns a cat(dont have none) burns out a o2 sensor(thats ok, i will put a new one in) it was worth the numbers for the last race day for us for the year.
I doubt the higher octane would have made that much difference (w/o a tune for it) unless your tune was causing time to be pulled on the 91..........you said it was 50*..cooler weather will help termendously....your lower 60' was due to better launch by you or the track was prepared better..either way a lower 60 = better ETs......rule of thumb says for every tenth off the 60 1/4 mile will ET will decrease by 2-4 tenths.........anyway congrats on some great numbers..:usflag:
