I'm not 100% sure, but my guess would be your rims have the wrong offset. I believe a 205/55/16 tire is actually smaller overall than a 225/45/18,...
As far as a daily driver goes, they are great! I've had my car fo 6+ years now, and put on over 70k miles, with only your basic maintenance. Oil...
