DETROIT (AP) -- Chrysler LLC is telling employees worldwide to take a mandatory two-week vacation in July. Chrysler informed employees of the plan in an e-mail sent to employees that was obtained by The Associated Press. Chrysler spokeswoman Mary Beth Heilprin confirms the e-mail was sent. Chrysler plans a corporate-wide shutdown the weeks of July 7 and July 14. Heilprin says some employees may be asked to stay on to work on special projects. It's common for automakers to shut down plants in July, but this would also affect salaried workers. Chrysler says the shutdown should help it boost productivity and efficiency. Heilprin didn't have any details about why the decision was made.
Meh, Like stated, Chrysler shuts down every July for two weeks to prep the plants for the new Model year lines... Nothing to worry about.
I think the reason it is newsworthy is that this time it isnt just the plants shutting down but the whole co.
nothing to worrie about. my thinking is that chrysler does this in the plants to maybe retool for then new modles. i have been with chrysler for 13+ years and currently working as a dodge parts director.
I don't think Chrysler is going anywhere, but if you are busy and times are good you can't afford to have a shut down..unfortunately that is not the case it seems.
So, does that mean we get to go take a tour / play around in the factories and offices? I'm not saying ... I'm just saying
Does this forced shutdown, mean nobody gets paid? If so that can't be a good thing. Normal shutdowns-If it was for maintenance then wouldn't they keep alot of the staff? I see it includes salaried personel also. Sam
