Window Cleaning

Ok fellas, I know there is allot of you out there that have tinted windows on your rigs so I am just going to throw this question out.

I am looking for a good glass cleaner (exterior and interior) for my rig. I have seen all kinds of products that make their own claims, but I prefer to hear feedback from the actual consumers who have used it.

I also wanted to try a waffle weave towel for the cleaning and drying. Any input on that?

As for towels, anything not covered in grease or much works just fine.

 

I have spray away now. It works great around the house. Just didn't know if there was something better for the tinted windows.

I use 'Invisible Glass' and paper towels. Works great.

 

I use Stoner's Invisible Glass and black/white newspaper on the interior and exterior. (preferably on cool glass)

In the past, if the exterior glass is real bad I'll carefully use a soapy razor-blade or a grade #0000 steel wool.

 

Something to know, Sprayaway makes private label glass cleaner. No telling how many are just rebadged sprayaway.

 

Paper towels have a chemical(s) in them that speed-up the absorbtion of liquids, or at least some do. Its not poisonous, but it will often leave a cloudy effect or streaking on your windows.

Use microfiber towels. They work 100% better. One that is used to first clean the window and a second dry/clean MF towel to wipe up residue. Believe me, it works great.

As for TINTED windows, its not advised to use any chemical on the interior of the window where the tint has been applied. Solvents will gradually breakdown and ruin the plastic tint/sheeting (we're talking in a couple year's time - not 10 years, but just a couple).

Use microfiber towels: one moistened with water, the other completely dry to wipe the window down after the intial heavy cleaning has been done.

 

meh.....I just use the Costco brand and they work good. I haven't had any clouding issues yet.

But I will definitely get the micro-fiber towels.

Invisible Glass from Stoners and a Microfiber towel.... Works great, on tint or otherwise.

 

Alcohol is fine, ammonia, vinegar not so fine, though now days with a good quality film, no one ever owns their vehicle long enough to matter.

Don't listen to me, I just installed this stuff for 9 years.

I've had very good luck with 3M's Glass Cleaner. Again, +1 on the micro-towels. There are some very good recommendations posted here.
