Subject: The party that wants to give us universal health care has a history of entitlement fiascoes. Our Social Security Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Progarm. He promised: 1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary, 2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program, 3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year, 4.) That the money the participants put into the independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and, 5.) That the annuity payments would never be taxed as income. Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month-- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to 'put away' -- you may be interested in the following: Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust Fund' and put it into the general fund so Congress could spend it? A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate. Q: Which Political party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding? A:The Democratic Party. Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities? A: The Democratic Part, with Al Gore casting the "tie breaking ' vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants? A: JIMMY CARTER and the DEMOCRATIC PARTY. Immigrants moved into this country, at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though THEY NEVER PAID A DIME INTO IT! so what? social security is a disaster anyway no matter who is responsible for it. the republicans have a history of screwing the economy even more than the democrats so neither side is exactly innocent here. the last few republican presidents we have had have given us two wars and two recessions. i'll take screwed up social security over that any day.
whats funny is you think the president is responsible for that. fyi, this country was built on wars. the problem is somewhere along the line we started caring about the people whos countries we were laying waste to. if we did it right, iraq would now be the 51st state and oil would be $20 a barrel.
Couldn't agree more. We DESTROYED Germany and Japan, and now 'by some miraculous event' they're some of the top industrialized nations on earth. Coincidence?!?! Nope. We smashed them without remorse, broke their collective wills to fight and re-vamped their nation identity. Now, they're productive and haven't cause much BS since.
Socialism security is a disaster because it's original intent has been changed by all politicians. I only presented the facts as I see them. BTW I don't think it should have ever started to begin with. So what is exactly the reason we are in this predicament. Too much apathy. No president decides if we are going to war it's the Congress. The only way for change , at least history shows us , is by revolution/violence. Every society that has wanted change succeeds mostly by violence. Those wars/conflicts, since WWII, have never been the same because the Liberals have us only shoot when shot at and other complications for combat. If WWII was fought like that we would all be speaking German. Don't let the Liberals wave the American Flag, when they continue to empower the Government to decide your rights, thoughts and desires.
We live in a Democracy - We can't blame the government or the politicians for any of our problems. We vote the politicians into office (time and time again) - we can only blame ourselves. There are plenty of checks and balances built into our political system to prevent corruption, to fix failed programs, etc… There just not being used, because the politicians know that we citizens are a bunch of lazy SOB's. They don't have to fix anything. The democrats control both houses of Congress and they can’t even pass a single legislation to undo any of Bush’s policies. Sorry folks – in a democracy – re-election becomes the number one priority. Only we the citizens can make the change - we get the government we deserve… Think Libertarian for a change….
I still think it's funny that Democrats get into office, spend all the money, Republicans are there for the fall out and get blamed for it.
thats only halfway true though. it was the case in the bush senior era. clinton got in and took over the economy that bush had helped turn around. then the whole dot com business boomed and the US found itself with a shitload of money. bush jr though has spent a lot more money than he has helped bring in.
That may be true in a way, but the money that he did spend was going for our Military Troops to protect our a$$ over here. No war is cheap. Rich
