Just got a phone call from a buddy of mine who was at the Citrus Nationals held at Moroso Motorsports park in Jupiter, Fl , who told me one of the jet cars crashed at over 200 mph at around 5 pm. Driver was killed in accident. That sucks.There have been way to many drag racing accidents this year.I am wondering why?I haven't heard of this many for quite some time.
Wow, we were going to go to this event...we live about 10 min from moroso, and I was outside in the yard a litle after 5 pm and say the Trauma Hawk Helicopeter fly over heading back from the track...I guess there wasnt anything they could do for him...RIP
wow, this is so sad! i hate hearing about things like this in something that many of us love to do......
These guys are out there running these cars for exhibition only. They make about 2-3 passes a day at the events. What gets me is that he had already made a pass today(according to a buddy @ the track) and had deployed his parachutes , and i know these guys are so meticulus about the way they repack their chutes and checking their gear before each run.
Added video from news station. Shows 2 pics. Apparently he didnt make it into the trees at the end of the track, car flipped and disintegrated when he hit the gravel at the end of the strip ,driver was ejected @ approx. 268 mph.
