After months of work, I'm proud to announce that
    www.streetracetech.com
    is open!!!

Our REAL coilovers for the LX platform have already started shipping. We partnered with AFCO Racing do adapt their top of the line twin-tube, independently adjustable rebound and compression damping, racing coilovers to work on the rear of the LX platform.

The first set shipped last week, and is installed and running. Several more sets shipped this week, and are set for delivery on Monday. I'm personally installing a set locally this weekend, and I've been running them on my car since last November.

    See www.streetracetech.com for more details.

Basically, these rear shocks are the only actual coilovers ever fit to the LX platform.

What is a coilover? Its a SHOCK with the COIL mounted OVER the shock.
The factory spring location is no longer used, and the coil is truly mounted in coilover fashion.

What does this do different than anything else ever marketed for the LX?

    1) Designed for racing - adjust compression damping (20 settings) and rebound damping (40 settings) independently. Set it up one way for the street, change the settings for maximum weight transfer (and thus traction) on the dragstrip.
    2) Ride height you can REALLY change. Ride heigth adjustments can be made by hand, in as little as 1-3 minutes per side. NO TOOLS REQUIRED.
    3) Spring changes are simple: You can even run one set of springs on the street, and another on the dragstrip. Changing a spring can be done in 10 minutes. So that's 20 minutes to completely change the rear springs.
    4) Damping adjustments can be made in less than 1 minute. There's a knob for compression damping and rebound damping on each rear shock. 15 seconds each - and you can adjust all four settings - both settings on both shocks - in a minute or less.
    5) Chassis set-up: You can tune this suspension so finely, that if you find one tire wants to start spinning before the other, you can adjust the pre-load on that tire to equalize the traction to both rear tires.

The options and possibilities are endless. Check out the new website.

Feel free to ask me questions in this thread, or PM me for more details.

Here's the question I always get: Only a rear pair exists. Matching front coilovers are in development, but not expected until later this year.

LOL. Thanks. I don't know about award-winning. It's the best I could do by myself. I'm not a website designer, so don't hold the website to too high a standard. :tomato:

You got your tracking number, right? Out the door and on their way!

    Matt,

How would these coilovers fair on a road course...or are they "purpose built" for the drag strip? Thanks! - Rick

Rick - these are adjustable enough to be used for BOTH!!! At one extreme end of the settings you'd be drag racing. Near the other extreme you're road racing. Somewhere in between is a comfortable street ride.

The key difference is that drag racing is all about weight transfer from front to back. Road racing is more about avoiding most weight transfer from side-to-side. You can easily use these for both by adjusting the damping settings.

EDIT: I just hung up with AFCO Racing. At the stiff end, these are already valved so you can go road racing. Use a stiffer spring, set rebound damping almost to full damping, then set compression damping to full, and start backing off the compression damping from there.

SO YES - as these are delivered, you can take them to the drag strip, run them on the street, or take them road racing.

And if I remember correctly you can change your ride height just about as easily too so you can pick a rake to match your mood while you're transitioning. Haha. Pretty much looks like the ultimate in suspension for our cars. You working on electric servos so you can do everything except change springs from the cabin?:eek:k:

Nice. Pretty early delivery this morning, no?
Let me know if you have any questions during install.

Also - depending on vehicle there may be one additional step on the install.

There's a bolt attaching the rear swaybar to the drop link. From the factory, the bolt faces the shock. Remove that bolt and turn it around and reinstall it. that way the bolt head faces the coilover, and the nut and extra length faces away. Doin that provides up to an extra 1/2" of clearance to ensure the bolt doesn't hit and scratch up the spring. It's virtually impossible for the bolt to hit anyway, because as the swaybar and coilover move almost in unison. The travel rate is slightly different because they attach to different points.

I'll try to take some more pictures tonight on this topic.

    Hurry, overnight the thrust bearings!

I guess they don't need to move that often. If you adjust height, just catch some air on the test drive and you're good to go.
