There are several communites and "subdivisions" throughout the US dedicated to aviation enthusiasts. Most homes are larger than normal and include private hangars, and access to the private runway. And obviously, most people are aviation oriented people . . . . Now. . . . . Why doesn't such a thing exist for us Gearheads? Luxurious homes with with multi-car garages and detached "shops". Last, but certainly not least . . . a strategically placed Private Test Track, and or large pad for auto-crossers, and even an actual road coarse around the entire neighborhood. . . If it was built, will people come? :bag: (Disregard this message if something like this already exists . . . !)
I recently saw one of these places on TV but the name escapes me. It had a nice 2-3 mile road course in what would typically have been a golf course. Large garages with workspace as well as parking. I'll post a link if I remember.... and megga dittos as to a larger version of your avatar..
There's a couple major factors - buyers and legal issues. Having a private air-strip would obviously "bridge-the-gap" for everyone. Those that actually possessed planes could fly in or out and be at most any given location at a moment's notice. To do a Motorsport oriented neighborhood, you'd be limited to one geographical area, unless it was a second home (which would probably be the case). Maybe in the hills of NC, where a lot of ASSCAR brethren reside. . . As far as legal issues go, there would have to be some sort of covenance outlining the proper way to act on the track areas and freeing the community itself from any "blame". An enter/use at your own risk type thing. Plus, I think if it were marketed to the appropriate clientele, I think it would be a huge hit! Could you imagine living next to Jay Leno or Billy Gibbons! Anyone want to float me a loan? :dancinlock:
