Ben Chapman, who played "Gill Man", aka The Creature From The Black Lagoon, died on 2.21.08 of heart failure at his house in Hawaii.

TCFTBL was one of the first movies I remember staying up late to watch when I was a kid. It wasn't really scary, but kind of campy. I remember being bummed that it was black and white.
Later in life I remember watching MST-3K when they did "Revenge Of The Creature From The Black Lagoon" (Clint Eastwood's first movie!). It had me in tears. The laughing kind.

I am bummed. When we were kids in the 60's (guess I am dating myself) my Dad bought 8mm tape of show and we would charge admission to watch film downstairs with all our friends. My first trip into entrepreneurship. Well at least we tried to charge admission. But that show is classic even in B/W. By the way when I was a kid I thought that was real.

I LOVE 50s Sci-Fi!!! I watch the 3 Creature movies about once a year. Long live Ben Chapman.
