Just installed the r20 file and went to the jeep to install the performance 93 tune, and before I even move the car the Service 4Wheel Drive system shows up on the dash. I was running it stock for the last month or so cuz of all the snow here. Anyone else having this problem??
nope. After posting on the Jeep site turns out there is another jeep that had this same issue with the same tune. They replaced the transfer case on his. Taking my Jeep in tomorrow to see what they say. Cant make a full turn at all, the Jeep just stops, have to really gas it to get it moving.
I have an 08 with 91 CAI tune and I have had no problems..Sorry to hear that dude..Hopefully it is a simple sensor issue...Good luck
Same issue now, its fine going in a straight line, but parking it or backing it out slowly is when it locks up.
Strange, but if it is doing it with the stock tune, it is an issue with the truck itself. Thanks Mike
Mike it was not doing it with the stock tune until after I loaded the R20 crom file with the 93 performance tune. I tried returning it to stock hoping that it would eliminate the service 4wd. system, but had no success.
Just throwing an idea out there but maybe just the 93oct tune has the issue. It seems the 2 transfer case issues the 93oct tune was being used. It doesn't seem anyone with the 91oct tune is having any troubles including myself. I have returned to stock until all of this is figured out though.
I have heard of this problem and would say it has to do with the Diablo too. As the other one I heard of happened just like yours did, loaded the tune had the problem, tried to return back to stock still had the problem....I would get it to the dealer and get it fixed, then think about loading the canned tune again...
Has anyone had it fixed? Did they say what the fix was? I was guessing that maybe it's like some sort of code (like a CEL code) that's stored somewhere the the predator doesn't overwrite and doesn't reset automatically once the condition is removed? So maybe the tune sets up some condition that triggers the error. That gets stored somewhere else and restoring the stock tune doesn't clear it.
No idea, but I do believe from what I heard the TC was replaced. I think the Predator is doing something wrong and then when you attempt to put it back to stock it is either too late or the Predator does not put that part of the vehicle back to stock...I dunno I have never had the problem just have heard from others....
Guys, we have been through this how many times? The Predator does not write to the FDCM, nor does it have any communication with any part of the AWD system outside of the PCM...that is all we can write to as of right now. We do not even flash the TCM. I hate to say it, but if the problem persist after restoring the backup, it is NOT a Predator issue, bottom line. If it was, wouldn't we see more that one person talking about it? (like the AWD issue) Thanks Mike
Mike I believe you, but I have heard at least 3 times of this same issue. I am not taking sides I just think there is something that is linked. It could be a Jeep problem, but why does it only happen when the tune is loaded into the vehicle? I find it hard to believe that it just randomly happens at the exact time the tune is loaded in?
On CherokeeSRT8 today, Greg from BWoody posted that he has indeed seen the same thing happen to at least one truck, and it was never near a Predator. I also know of at least one that was killed from running it on a dyno improperly, that will happen Predator or not. I still have yet to hear directly from any opf the people that this supposedly happened to. Of the 2 trucks having this issue on the other forum, one had the TC replaced, but, the 2nd one went to the dealer, and rather than just throwing parts at it, they actually looked into it. They found some stored codes, cleared them, and voila!! All fixed!! So, before we all go nuts blaming this or that, lets wait till there are some more solid facts out there. If the one that was replaced could have been fixed by clearing some codes, then this is all pretty silly, isn't it? Thanks Mike
I hear ya man, I have had no problems with my Predator. Running R17 all is good. Maybe people are just noticing it after they install the tune because they are worried that something is wrong with their truck and they are looking into everything possible. Probably a misunderstanding, glad to see we got it all cleared up...
