I would love to see a shuttle launch....it would would be great to sit on your porch drinking a beer and watch a launch like you do Jake...
Keep those matches and lighters away from her, then....:sly::zorro::no: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/1195 D
Well, kinda. The two booms you heard were probably for the last Mach. The others were most likely over the ocean or Gulf Of Mexico. Fish don't mind booms as much as cry baby neighbors. I was fortunate enough to be in Titusville for a launch in 2002 (STS-111). IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!! The Earth shakes, the water on the cape ripples, it's louder than The Who in '74..... There's more thrust during a shuttle launch than in the last 4 releases from Vivid. If you're a tech geek like me, it's pr0n. Big time. Like Jake said, launches are all over the radio and TV. Folks were setup on the cape beaches several days before the launch...camping out. We were lucky enough to be at a friends' grandmother's house who's right on the water. It's pretty damn amazing. I found this video of STS-111: http://www.nss.org/resources/library/shuttlevideos/shuttle110.htm I thought they all just did back-flips for a few days then flew it back. I'll drive 1008 miles to see that and hang with everyone. Count me in.
Shuttle Endeavor safely landed a few moments ago! :deshade: It's quite an amazing site to see her sitting on the paddock, seething and burping fire out of the A.P.U's (aux. power units). It's about the closest to a live animal Man has created... literally breathing, growling, snapping and popping, contorting shape as she cools down. Pretty amazing thing, indeed. The crew of STS-123 will disembark shortly.... http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/main/index.html :usflag: (The orange you see in the picture is a ball of fire being "burped" from the APU's)
We felt it too!!!! Scared us because we thought it had already landed! Sounds like somebody trying to break the walls down!!
Yeah, this one was loud. It was the alternate landing time (due to weather)... the primary was earlier (7:40ish, I believe).
It flew right over your house this time..... The alternate course takes it straight across the state. Usually it comes up from the south.
Ahhh! That's true! I thought Alexis was going to shit herself!! She jumped up and was headed for the door, she really thought that someone had driven into the wall!!! Then it dawned on me what it must be! Very cool!!!
