Tribute to my dog Mugsy, A loyal/true friend

Life as I know it is over, Musgy one of my best and loyal friends is not doing well. All the cancer treatments have not worked. Ive been working closely with Dr Sullivan a world renowned bone marrow transplant doctor and weve come to a dead end, Mugsy will be put down tomorrow. My wife is in the middle of a breakdown and I feel helpless. I cant say or do anything to make this ok, I'm always looking for a solution and I think Ive met my match this time. Im out of options. Mugsy was alive and well 1 month ago and its breaking my heart. I have no were to turn. Please say a prayer for him, I feel like he doesnt deserve this. He was a saint, Not a mean bone in him.
The most loving, nicest dog anyone could ask for. Im hurting big time.
Look into his eyes you will see why.

 

So sorry to hear about this, sometimes life hits you hard and kicks you even harder when your down. Prayers up for your dog.

 

Trojan,................................. Man I don't know how to even say anything bro, other than I know what it's like to lose a best friend like that. I lost one a few years back, and to this day it still breaks my heart to think about the day I had to put him down. I don't know what it was about that particular dog, but there was just that special connection, almost like he felt and understood everything I was feeling and going through, and like you stated, all you had to do was look into his eyes. There is no easy way about it, it just down right sucks. All I can say is never forget. My prayers go out to your family, Mugsy especially.

 

damn dude, im sorry to hear all that. dogs are truly mans best friend and threads like this prove it. just know that mugsy loves you and you are doing what is best for him and he knows it

What gets me through those times (had dogs all my life) is that I know that I have given them the best life they could ask for. Always got what was wanted/needed and no dog could have it better.
My current dog of 13yrs gave me a scare 2 months ago and went into a grand maul seizure for no rhyme or reason. It was very bad to watch, I actually thought she was passing. She on meds but still not quite right. Probably just a matter of time so I hear you and feel your pain.
Keep your chin up and remember that you gave your beloved animal the best life it could have. Unfortunately God didn't make em to last forever but he seems to know who to match em up with for their short time on earth.

 

We had some great times.

 

If there is a God, and if there is a heaven...there is no doubt in my mind that our pets will be waiting there to walk at our side through all eternity.

My heart aches for you and your wife. I know that Musgy will be fine.

Im sorry to hear..
Look at it this way He won't be in pain or suffering anymore
by keeping him alive is making him suffer more and he probally doesnt want that.

It sucks loosing a pet.
but he'll be in a better place watching over you as
you and your wife have watched over him.

Sorry to hear about your baby Trojan. I've had to put down two in my lifetime and it never gets any easier.

 

Father, I pray that (in your everlasting mercy) you have a warm, comfy spot waiting (for us and) our animals when we reach our spiritual home..... We ask for peace and hope in the hearts of Mugsy's family.... We pray that Mugsy will sleep peacefully on the front porch of their heavenly home until they arrive safely there together.... with tail wagging and hearts overflowing with joy and gratitude....

We stand with you and Mugsy......... In the hope of eternal peace....

chris - my friend, i know exactly the pain that you speak of. last halloween, i had to make one of the hardest decisions of my life when i had to put down my best friend of 15 years. Basil was a cocker / rott mix (yeah, wild mix). basil lasted with me longer than my first marriage, more cars than i could remember, and many girlfriends. she was the one constant in my life. cancer finally took her from me as well. the pain and the hole that it leaves is beyond words. i never imagined how hard it was going to be to have to say good bye to a pet. i now know, and i very my sympathize with your feelings. hang in there and just focus on the good memories.

fwiw - when basil finally was put down, i chose to leave the room. i wanted my last memory of her to be one with her eyes open....... man, i have tears in my eyes just thinking about that day...... i will keep you and mugs in my thoughts chris!!!!

Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

The best friend a man has in this world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its' clouds upon our heads.
The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and poverty, in health and sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, when the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master, as if he were a prince.When all other friends desert, he remains.
