Here's the story on my mods to date: Spent a good part of the Sunday before last dismantling and installing parts on the front end. Pulled the fascia. I wanted to pull it completely off, which necessitated pulling the washer fluid hose and front wiring harness off the backside of the fascia. Here's a few pics: The pan is for the washer fluid that drains out. Here's the backside of the grille with the black absorber moved out of the way. The four lower screws that hold the grille would have been almost impossible to get to without pulling the fascia! Grille's Out!!! Now it's time to move on to the rest of this project. So now, time to remove the front brake inlet air ducts, install some mesh over those openings and the lower opening, put in the clear corners and install the HID fogs. Both the brake air inlet mesh and the fog install created some problems down the road. More on that later. Brake inlet air ducts are held on by a simple clip: Now, clear corners: It's easy when you have the fascia off! Just remove a 13mm nut and depress the clip: Zip, Zap, Zang...new ones are in: Here's the HID foglight kit: Now, installing the HID fogs became problematic. There were two unknown wires and I was not sure what to do with them. The stock harness and HID ballast wiring seemed to plug together with no problem. With a little help from my forum friends, it was determined they weren't needed and were subseqently removed from the kit harness: I moved on to finishing up the lower mesh installation, cleaning up and putting away the tools for the day. Here's the grille and mesh installed. The black absorber is back in place as are the clips and attachments for the headlight washer hoses. Beware: If you put mesh on the brake inlet openings, be ready for some extra work to get the inlet ductwork back on!!! :boxed:
The next few days were spent mounting the ballasts for the HID fogs, checking connections, reconnecting the headlight washer hoses, zip tying the HID harness to the stock wiring harness and attaching all the loose pieces in preparation for putting the fascia back on. Last Saturday, a buddy of mine from LXF came over to assist with the fascia installation. Here's Bob and yours truly ready to do battle: And the final results: Oh Yeah...The Billet. A new BT rear wing and emblem!!! I really like the results. I think I am going to add some 8K D1S HID bulbs to the low beams to match the color of the fogs. Some Intense Blue AAC Halos may also be in my immediate future. :thumb2:
I agree with Jason, the is my favorite grill as well. Is that a Grip? Looks very nice...and improvement! How do you like that Volant?
Yes, that's a Grip Tuning grille I purchased bare and had painted to match the body color. I like the Volant. I've used them on three other vehicles with good results. Oh yeah, forgot to mention I've got my Predator tune sorted out as well. Love that mod as well!
Oh...I'm going shopping for some 8K D1S HID bulbs for the low beams too...just to match up with the fogs. :thumb3:
