    Hey...
When I sent you the link to the pdf of the closest switch to what you need:
    http://www.carlingtech.com/pdf/CarlingSW_LT.pdf

I forgot to send you the cover page for these switches from the catalog on the Carling Tech site.
I noticed something at the bottom of the page that was VERY interesting...at the bottom of the page under "value added" options..
    "Dependent and independent lamps offered"

Maybe you REALLY do want to give them a call...

It is a shame you don't want to go rocker. Carling Tech makes real some nice rocker switches and they have about any other type of switch you can want.
    Check out these rockers..

Here are shots of the switch receptacle inside the inverter itself:

I see the IC there, but nothing that looks like a latching relay.

I'm definitely going to call Carling when they wake up.
So far, they're the closest to having the switch I need.

Speaking of Watch threads....I just bought a Citizen Skyhawk. Not the most expensive timepiece but more that what my G Shock cost!

BTW...it seems to be HUGE on my wrist but I like it because I dont have "dainty" wrists!:grin::grin::dancing:

We can scratch Carling off the list.

    LT-1531-601-012 = $10.85 ea.
    Minimum Order: 50 pcs.

...and, the keyway is backwards so I'd have to disassemble the switch, rotate it 180 deg., and re-assemble.

As a final nail in the Carling coffin, they don't make a "down position is off" configuration for the LT-1500 Series switches. They have a momentary "down position is off" switch, but the toggle bat will return to the center position.
    That's not going to work.

The one bright spot was when the guy at Carling explained that the LED's operation is independent of the switch operation.
    Sorry for the pun.

Back to the interwebs for more searching......

Did you ask Carling if they sell that switch to anyone? These big companies sell lots (like 50 pieces) to resellers.... like electronics stores.

I don't understand why you want the down off function. Can you explain?
If you keep the control board (remotely located) and solder leads to go from the where the existing membrane switch is to the new switch, then the down off function will be off no use.

    Yes.
They have a 'locate your part at a distributor' feature on their site. The guy walked me through it. No one had a 1531-601-012. A place did have some 1531's, but they weren't the correct color and/or voltage.

To have the 1531-601-012's built would be 6-8 weeks.

I have no problem using the control board from the membrane switch plate. That's fine, and was part of my original plan.

What I don't want to do is have to move the toggle up to turn it on and off (up once = on; up again = off). I'd like the DOWN to be the OFF.

Also, the switch needs a Down=OFF position because of the safety cover.

I think I may be looking for the wrong function in a switch.
Maybe I need an: (ON)-OFF lighted toggle.

I started working on a custom switch in the shop tonight.

    I'm pretty damn close. It's ON-LED ONLY-OFF right now.
I'll have it "(ON)" [momentary On] as soon as I can score a spring for that side.
