As I was driving around I saw a Black Shelby GT500:drool:. Caught up to him at a stoplight and told him "Nice car you got there." There were cars in front of us so I didn't even want to play. Shortly after the light turned green he caught back up and asked if I wanted to run him. You bet I would. We started heading out of town and playing with each other a little bit. Never did get a chance to actually race him. We left a light with some cars in front of us. Let them get ahead a little bit and gunned it. We both spun. I could hear the axle hop going on with his ride. He pulled me about half a car before we got up to speed limit. Not the most ideal traction for me or him. There was some sand still on the road from the plow trucks and I didn't hook very good. Once I hooked I stayed with him. Next mini run we had was from 40- 70. He took me on that one pretty good. Again not the best rpm range for me. I was going fast enough it would not kick down into 1st and it wasn't worth it to drop it down to 1st for a half second before I bounced off the rev limiter. Talked to the guy afterwards and he was pretty cool to talk with. He has gotten bit by the mod bug too. Weird thing is he said he was pushing close to 600 HP? I thought they came with 500HP. Then he asked me how much I had under the hood, 300 or so. I just smiled. No I have 500HP. LOL he didn't even know what he was against With better road conditions I think I could have hung in there with him pretty decent till about 50 or so:rock: Just had to see what they could do!
He was probably thinking "what the hell kinda car is that hanging with me!!!" I raced one at the 1/8th mile grudge races this past summer and by the time he got traction (street tires and airport asphault) I was gone and he was dumbfounded. It's one thing to own a fast car and it is another thing to drive it. Sounded like you had fun!
A stock GT500 was dynoed and it came up with 485 HP so they dont even come with 500 HP stock, saying he has 600 HP he has no idea what he is talking about. Get a clear shot at him next time, I bet you do alot better then just up to 50, or just get a JGC SRT8 and watch the dumb look on his face when you put a bus lenth on him by the time he gets traction. My motto is if you cant get it to the pavement you aint got sh*t!
Inferno do you mean a stock one dynod 485 at the wheels? if so thats well over 500 at the crank which is advertised. I have played with 1 of these and he was stock and from 60(yes i got back into second) to about 130 i had him by 1 car give or take...he was pissed to say the least.
Eek, I was just telling Jason (Bby^^^), my friend is selling his 300srt8 to a coworker and we're going to look at a GT500 on the lot today. They are all selling at msrp. I hate the rims on them though. They suck. The KR rims are nicer imo.
Wow, just talked to him and they are listed with every option for 56000. Isn't that like 10000+ more than what they list for in the US for every option? With the Canadian dollar being worth more than the US as of today...that sound like a rip. :furious:
the gt 500 are the most over rated cars. i have seen nothing but mid 13 second 500's here. its sad when they would get smashed on by a neon
Some of you need to go to school regarding Fords. Stock you're looking at around 440rwhp and tq SAE, with tune/CAI 500rw, with full bolt-ons and a smaller pulley 575-600rw. With just a KB 2.8H (through stock exhaust) you can make 700rw SAE on straight 93, with full exhaust/CAI/2.8H that's 750rw on pump gas. The current quickest/fastest stock blower/longblock (bolt ons, gears, susp, tire only) GT500 runs 10.6@133. You can run well into the 9s with tire, gear, susp, and 2.8H on blower alone. Slap some twins on and you're talking 900rw+ on straight 93 with an otherwise stock motor. They have crazy potential.
Andy your dead right on this one. There is a drag cobra out here that runs mid 9's. It is the best sounding car ever. And that motor and blower together in that engine bay looks great
