I think Steve was suggsting removing the plastic piece and cutting it, but what we did was just use a SHARP utility knife to trim the plastic liner so it is flush with the hood liner.

I woulda got pics of the install...but it was dark and i was already using a flashlight to do it haha...plus nobody was around to hold the cam during so it just didnt happen lol
