As far as I see the differences...

I understand too and I have my reasoning as I'm sure does everyone else. Meets are happening all the time now so if someone can't make one for whatever the reason, there's always another. Maybe even some people get tired of going out all the time so they cut back (and things like the scavenger hunt are made to switch it up a bit and even trips to the big meets) and I'm sure others have conflicting schedules or finances (like myself). For example, I've always said when my car gets fixed I'll be coming out more often because hopefully i'll also have a new job next week. So that adds 1 more to the list soon.

We usually get quite a few people to come out to the big meets and as I was saying about the SFL guys I'm sure that's what keeps them closer. I'm sure their weekly meets are just like ours, but when you have one big meet that comes once every other month, there's time to plan ahead, people will want to come and see the mass amount of srt's and maybe it's at a beach or a park rather than a random parking lot etc. It seems SFL always has a big meet and I think it helps their community. And maybe they have guys that do something together out side of the car scene or their personalities are just different Idk there's so many factors but I think those are big ones. It's hard to put your finger on it and then have it change with a snap of the fingers.

and they switch it up. whenever i visit the fam, i try to make it to an event. (been to 3 so far and i go to miami atleast every other month) it is always somewhere different. and the best part is, they switch it around. for example, driving to clearwater is far for me. but i dont mind doing it every once and a while, just as im sure driving from clearwater would be far if youre driving to my house. i think it would be neat to do the same. once a month, someone chooses the location. some may make it, some wont. but i think there would be a larger turnout on a monthly meet than a weekly in the same spot.

    just my 2 cents.:thumb2:

I give up after this post on this subject...

Tampa is a central spot. Most of us are on the out skirts of Tampa, some parts being considered Tampa but your still on the edge. Hell, I'm not even in Tampa and still drive.

We've tried switching it up... it just doesn't work. There's an excuse for everything now-a-days. So what if Sonics is every Saturday... look how many of you go to BBD meet on Wednesday which I've been to and its the same every time. Same with Friday night meets at Lowe's which I've been to and it's the same every time. Sonics on Saturday's is old? So is the other same meets that take place during the week. All (3) meets are a drive for me. No one comes out this way for anything.

The most excuses I've heard is, "its too far". Well what do you want? You can't expect a meet to be 10 min. from your house. You see Ozzy complaining? He's drive down to my house no problem, no complaints. He drives out to Lakeland, Riverview and so fourth. You see Frank and Amanda complaining? They are all the way in Winter Haven and come out to New Tampa, Riverview, and so fourth meets. They even go to some Orlando meets and even went to the Ft. Desoto picnic Jason held which is South of me. Everyone worrying about mileage on their cars... so what! Enjoy the car!!! I was worried about putting mileage on my car when I first got it until I started going to meets and was having a good time and meeting new people.

See some of you are thinking the wrong way. You can't go and think, "some make it... some don't... oh well." You think like that every meet will destine to FAIL! As the TBSG meet did.

    Example:
We all know eachother and then a new owner signs up and is interested in hanging out with us. We tell them, "yeah we meet up at Sonics on Saturday nights on Hillsborough and hang out there". That owner gets pumped up and excited because he's going to meet other owners. That owner get's there and see's 2-3 SRT-4's, yet 10+ people say Sonics is where they go. You think that owner will come back? I highly doubt it as I saw it happen at TBSG and at Sonics the times there was only 2-3 of us.

That's why I stress effort to make any of this work. I got two SRT-4 owners from my area to go to Sonics and have been trying to get them to come. Finally they made it out to one Sonic meet and since they haven't even asked me if I'm going again. Why is that? Because to them it was a waste of time and gas.

These meets are turning to DSM meets that I went to when I was in the DSM scene. Boring... not because its the same meet... because hardly anyone shows up.

Prime example... the Mega Meets don't take place anymore (wish I owned the car then to have been able to attend one since I heard they were awesome)... setting up Dyno Day's is a waste of time... setting up an SRT meet at the track ended up being an embarrassment because maybe 3-4 people showed up. Where's the effort?

Some of these meets are planned a month or more ahead of time.

Yes, its frustrating to me but I'm done trying to make logic of this.

the only way to spool a .50 trim at 2800rpm which is as low as it will full spool would be to....... have .48ar (.63 has way better top end) port the compressor housing and clip the exhaust wheel which in terms will reduce lfe on the turbo, and have a DBB which everyone knows is a fail.

Here's my point of view, and hopefully it will be my last on this topic:

There are a few of us who bring up ideas for different meets while the rest of us just say if they're interested or not, which is absolutely fine.
The thing is, in my opinion, I'm not going to let those who don't show up ruin the fun that I want to have. And if people don't show up I'm not going to take it personally because I know there's lots of meets and events I've missed for various reasons. If whatever event turns out to be small or doesn't happen for some reason, then yes, it's going to suck, especially if you are the one who coordinated the event and busted your butt doing so. BUT, if we let one or a few bad turnouts bring us down and then we don't want to plan anything anymore, then we're letting the people who didn't show up CHANGE us for the worse. We turn into spectators, rather than the PLANNERS.

I can understand why Jesus is upset. The reason why is because he is passionate about our cars and the camaraderie we have, and when he tries to put together an event that's an extension of sharing his passion with the rest of the Tampa Bay SRT community.
I for one like to come up with ideas every once in awhile and I appreciate any feedback I get. Communication is a two way street and if I do my best to coordinate something and it turns out great than good. If not, then I will try again in the future and see what I can do better next time.
Tim recently had an idea about meeting at the causeway for pictures, but I think the weather was bad.
Bryan has posted ideas about different sporting events.
Although we all have our cars in common, some of us share the same interests, while others have different interests. The thing is, we shouldn't be upset if people don't show up because they're doing something else that they're having fun doing.

For example, if I'm going to a bar and have an open invitation to everyone, but "Mike" doesn't show up because he doesn't drink and he wouldn't have a good time, then that's FINE. I'm not going to be upset because if he's able to have a better time somewhere else and he is my friend, then I will be happy for him. If one night I don't show up to a regular meet because I wanted to have a few drinks with some other friends at another place then Mike shouldn't be pissed off at me. I like variety sometimes. I am lucky because I can have fun drinking and just as much fun not drinking. This is just an example of a difference of "interests."

I've been trying for MONTHS to get people to hang out in Pinellas, and although it was just a few of us at Strokers the other night, it was a good, small step. I had fun. I told the guys who showed up, maybe we can try Planet 9 Ball next time.

Pinellas people haven't posted much of anything on either forum, but from time to time I'm going to bring back that thread again. I see them sometimes read the posts, but for some reason they don't want to post. But I'm not going to give up. Sometimes change doesn't come about from one attempt, sometimes it takes several attempts. If we're persistent, anything can happen.

My final point is, for those of you who have the passion for sharing your ideas for meets and trying to coordinate events, don't give up because of some setbacks. If you do, then you let the "no shows" win. And if that happens, we won't be MEETING ANYWHERE EXCEPT THE FORUMS.
I, personally, don't what that to happen. Cause if so, that new Camaro will be in my hands much faster than expected.
We have a big SRT community here in Tampa Bay. For us to come together we need to keep planning and keep communicating with one another. Like Jesus said, it DOES take effort. Just don't let the effortless ones bring you down or change the PASSION that you have. Stay positive and keep your heads up.

everyone I know that has DBB .50trim turbos have had to replace them or rebuild them 2-3 times already. most people dont know that you need to have your car running for atleast 2 min. at idle on the turbo timer before the car shuts off. thats what ruins the bearings.

I still say that we need another dyno day and a track day, but our only problem is getting people to commit to a date. with everyone upgrading there cars things go wrong and sometimes is not easy to fix. After im finished with the power mods im gonna have to start saving for a built tranny, because it is only in due time when it goes out on me. so i will have to get amanda a daily driver. the meets are fun and I like hanging out with all of you guys. I personally dont care what we do. I am up for anything. you tell me whats going on, and if im not busy with anything I am going to be there.

Frank, I admire your ability to drive long distances to all these meets.
Don't know how you do it, especially with owning your own house (mortgage payments)
plus the gas prices are atrocious.

    well said jason.

I am going to try to go to the causeway again 2 saturdays from now. hopefully the weather will be better this time around.

I don't care where we meet either. it would be nice to shake it up a bit. I like sonics, but it does get old. I agree with what jesus said about the weekly meets being the same thing over and over as well. however, the weekend is generally when most of us have off. it allows for more freedom for change and variety.

I went to the TBSG meets, I went to the orlando picnic. I will be going to the sfla meet as well s the ft desoto meet that jason is planning.

this is the last i'm going to say about as well. see everybody out and about.

That's cool. I think you said he works in Oldsmar, not far from Strokers. What color is his car?

i know what you mean. If you don't want to discuss the topic again that's perfectly understandable and we can drop it. Lets just say we agree to disagree on certain aspects of the idea.
