Do you realize that you instigated this conversation merely because I posted that I would beat other vendors prices on the parts I carry? I call that hypocrisy. How I appear to you is merely a matter of perspective. Personally, I could care less what you think Edwin, you know this from our prior conversations on the red site. You also know my background with regard to the automotive aftermarket as I've told you before. Cliff's Notes version: Racing for over 12 years, working with aftermarket suppliers for over 10 years, published dozens of times for tech articles, my first book (How to Build Big Inch 4.6/5.4 Modular Motors) will be out by mid-summer, I've built engines, rebuilt trannys, installed pretty much everything possible on a car. Additionally through my writing jobs I've had the ability to meet and learn from the best in the business--how I linked up with my engine builder. My H/C package, which you'll see debut first on my own Jeep will be done by my engine builder Al Papitto (go ahead and google his name). I fully expect to make at least 475rw if not more on the stock bottom end, without sacrificing low end or streetability--since they will be installed on a 4800lb suv. The cam is custom spec'd by Al as well as the Precision Industries stall converter. I expect LXs to make even more power since the Jeep is limited to 6200rpm shift points and the other SRT8s are not. If you have any other questions or comments feel free to ask or fire away. Thanks Andy
Well, let us NOT get testy between each other. Does NOT matter who started what! Arguing and bickering is getting old and out dated! How about we ALL purchase, sell, and have fun doing it? After all, that is what it is ALL about anyway. Please, DO NOT force the staff to use other means to control the great environment that SRT/C has grown accustom too. That is all.
Works for me Big Dog. I think we (all vendors) need to realize that ebay is the real killer these days. Price matching to that shit sucks!
Andy, we all look forward to your Jeep H/C setup. I'm sure you can find an LX SRT8 here to work with you with at least 475 on tap. That's gonna be SAE Smoothing 5, right. LOL Aren't you afraid of the stock pistons/rods producing that much HP? Price matching is a big part of many types of business. Some venders have longer deals with their Mfg's, which make it impossible to match or beat them all the time without losing money.
You got it Hal, SAE CF with 5 smoothing, the only way I post results. I already have three other Jeepers lined up, but would love to find an LX tester in the near future. I can tell you right now my heads won't be cheap, when it comes to parts like this (heads, shortblocks, longblocks, things that require labor, porting, balancing, machining) you get what you pay for. Unlike other items like bolt-ons, which can be a mixed bag. To answer your question, no I'm not worried about the rods/bolts/pistons since I won't be spinning the motor any higher (rpm wise) than stock. The OEM components, while far from the cream of the crop overall, are suitable for such power rpm/levels. It's easy to get tunnel vision when dealing with Hemi's since everything is so new, however we can get a good idea of what's possible power/durability wise by looking at the LSX motors. I realize they are not directly comparable but they use the same type of hypereuctectic slugs, PM rods and not so great rod bolts we do. The bitch of it is, there are 346CI LS6 headed/FAST intake equipped stock shortblock motors making 500rw SAE through a manual trans. Our heads/intake are superior to the LS6s (also used on LS2s) as no LS2 has broken 400rw with stock longblock N/A through an auto--I'm not even sure there are many if any manual trans LS2 Vettes (with only 12% DT loss) that can do it. Anyway, what I'm getting at is we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg. Thankfully since Diablo cracked the PCM manufacturers have more incentive to make more effective parts for us. As far as price matching goes, I agree, longer relationships often lead to better discounts. Thankfully I've been working with the companies whose products I choose to carry for years due to the rag job (I've also been selling rare/exotic race parts for years on the side). MHP is not my primary source of income, it's primary purpose is to provide the best parts at the best prices--so if I have to take a hit every once in a while by price matching/beating, so be it. :thumb3: Thanks Andy
Well, I somehow managed to start a shit storm. Sorry guys. Now, if this was diegochrysler in the SRT6 section again, I'd likely be pissing my pants. However, I sincerely hope I didn't start this. I was merely putting an idea out there is all. If Ron trusts the vendors on this site for price/service, so do I.
