Mike- Wondering if you have figured anything out for the random misfire code that a lot of people are getting after they install a cam. Im sure there are hundreds of people with this problem. Any way to desensitize them or completely remove that sensor via custom tune? I believe it is the P0300 code. -Thanks
Yea I get it. Like clock work on some cold starts and sometimes if I am running her hard , like in the 1/4, then she will flash it real quick.
I get it all the time. Seems during the summer when I run the air here in AZ that I don't get it as often. C.
Its a code you get from the lope of an aftermarket cam at idle. Looking at your mod list, I dont think you have a cam, which means there should have been no reason for you to get that code...
Yeah, this should only come up on cars with cams. We are looking into disabling this code in the tunes. Thanks Mike
Does the PO300 code represent damage or any dangerous situation when going with a new cam? I only ask because I am looking into a new cam this spring? Thanks
With certain cams (usually more aggressive cams) They tend to lope a lot more at idle, and when the cam is loping it confuses the computer, causing it to think it is having a random misfire problem. It does not harm anything, it only has the computer wondering what is going on, and since there is no code that says "aftermarket cam" it leads it to believe it is misfiring...The sensors are very sensitive..
But of course Jason if you are getting this code with no aftermarket cam installed it probably means your engine is gonna blow... sorry man
Yes we got that code on BJB's truck... and well that was a pretty good sign the ringland was gone somewhere since we had stock cam and heads.
