Anyone go through a set of front brakes yet? At wha mileage did this happen, and are brakes under any type of warranty?

I hit 23k miles today, and outta nowhere, the front left brake started squealing pretty badly. Makes noise even when I'm not on the brakes. Wonder if it's something DCX will cover.

BTW, rear brake squeal came back too. About 4000 miles after the TSB was done.

They only cover brakes before 12000 miles, after that you are on your own. Depending on your driving style 23K is not bad for a set of fronts as aggressive as the brembos

Given that these 2 cars aren't as heavy, I had Brembos on the Lancer Evolution and the STi, and neither of them went through brakes that quickly. 23k miles just seems short.

    Any recommendations for brake pads?

For the fronts I think the stockers are the best, the only downfall is all the brake dust. If you are looking for something else I would hit up Bwoody about the EBC's

I am sure they will hook you up with the fronts only, if that is the route you decide to go

Like I said above, driving style has a lot to do with how long brake pads last. Yes vehicle weight has some to do with it, but basically how hard and how often you hit that brake pedal down, determines how long the pads are going to last. Do I think they should be worn down at 23K....No, but you say they are, and I will take your word for it, I would physically check them out though

I hit the squeal springs at around 21,500 miles. Most of my driving is my 4 mile commute to work with 7 traffic lights.

Just checked the front brake pads. They are somewhat worn down, and it is the wear indicators hitting the rotors making the noise (3 of the 4 indicators hit). The rotors seem to have worn down quite a bit as well. I was told by a mechanic friend that the stock pads are real aggressive, which is why it eats up rotors.

Ordered some yellow EBC's because I found a deal on them. We'll see how they work.

    Anyone have hookups on rotors?

I have an '06 Jeep SRT8. Just passed 35,000 miles. Front pads and rotors are still good for a few thousand more miles. Rear pads were replaced with OME, and rotors are still ok for awhile.
