Ok, I was sitting on the fence about the Predator. Sure, some additional ponies would be nice but I'm pretty happy with the car as is. When another forum member decided to sell theirs at a discounted price, I figured, "What the heck." I got it today and popped in the canned 91 CAI Perf tune to try it out. Took it for a little spin and :good:leasantry::cheers::dance4:. She's like a whole new beast now. Not just the additional power either. She's much more drivable around town too. Looks like it's time for a CMR appt. :yahoo:
Hmm, maybe I'll have to get off the fence too...baby's making it harder to balance. :baby: But yeah, been thinking about the predator for a while, just every "help, trouble with predator" thread makes me paranoid. So good to read about people I can go visit in person and bug trying it out and having good experience with it. Thanks Raymond! :flowers:
T, you have an 06 right? Nothing to worry about, and it's worth every cent. Ray, did you have a B&G before the predator?
What if we do??? If you are runnign a B&G and jump to a CMR tune do you need a whole new computer or can you just overwrite and save your B&G tune??
I guarantee you will be as happy, if not more, with the Predator as you are about Zoomers....for a quarter the cost.
tam - trust me, i was exactly the same way and now that i have it, i can not believe i did not get it right away!!!!!
dave - i was able to have the pred read my b&g tune without issue just as if it was the stock tune, and saved it as the "original backup" program in my pred. now i can load any cmr or canned tune i want and i still have the b&g as my back up. the only issue some have run into is if the pred would not recognize the specific version of the b&g and would prompt you to do an update, which would overwrite the existing b&g.
.. However, and just to add to what Chris is saying, Dave at B&G can fix this for you. He can update to the latest dcx cal and give you back your B&G or a custom Diablo tune on the PCM which you can then save to the handheld and a pc. I think he charges like 120 for it or something. I still have to do that to mine since it's collecting dust.
milan - i am actually working with dave right now on a emailed cmr tune for my sled. my b&g pcm is collecting dust too, but i will always keep it just in case......i only got another pcm because i thought my version of the b&g would not be read by the pred, but i was wrong. found out after i already bought it!! hahahaha
Hey Tam, you're welcome to try it out first whenever you want. All I need to do is put my OEM tune back in and you can use it on your car. Just let me know............and promise to give it back when you're done. :thumb2:
Chris, Milan, this is the info I've been looking for, this is what I want to do, save my B&G tune onto the Predator without having to pay the $120-130 for the update. It's the main reason I haven't jumped ship yet, too much money. Do you guys know if there is there a way to tell from the B&G pcm if it will need to be updated? Chris, how did you actually find out yours didn't need the update? Is there a way I can check mine? Dave@B&G is a member right? Should I pm him?? Suggestions guys? Thanx. And Raymond, like Milan asked, did you have the B&G first??
yeah, ive tried to get tam to get it. she declines. ill even set it up for her, she shouldnt drag her feet at all!!!
scott - i plugged it in just to see and was pleasantly surprised to see it was able to read the b&g!!! i was shocked, as i thought for sure it would not after all i was hearing on the boards about older versions of b&g pcm's. i already had purchased ricks old pcm, but had not flashed it to the car when i got my pred. my curiousity just got the best of me and i was stoked when i found out it worked!!
