Brought my car in for the Subwoofer heartbeat TSB and brake TSB and they flashed something...think it had to do with the sunroof module and I didn't return my Predator tune back to stock...I know..duh. Anyways, they said they fixed it but my new brake rotors and pads weren't in so I had to wait for them. Brought the car back home and parked it in the garage. Turned it off and noticed the heartbeat again. Crap I thought. Fast forward a few weeks....battery dead (probably due to the heartbeat thing and trickle charger cable not connected securely), so I charged it last night, started it up and took it in for the brakes...on my way, stopped at a drive-thru for my morning cof and try to open the sunroof. Nope. Doesn't work. Means they flashed something that didn't work with the Predator tune I think...but the car still runs sweeeeeeeeet. (Man, I miss it...this minivan I'm using for the winter is SUCKING THE LIFE outta me lol) Anyways, hopefully they'll finish the brakes and redo the undercoating since they did a crappy job on that...and then I can return it to stock and go and fix the sunroof.....so, my question is: Do you guys think I screwed up the sunroof module (if this is what they actually flashed...just going by what Stevo told me...so if this is some sick joke by Stevo...I'm gonna get ya haha...since it was on the Predator tuned PCM and not the stock contraption?? Any advice would be appreciated...
The only advice I can give is a question: did you go through a Tim Horton's drive through for your coffee?
That is a good question. I need to know the answer too. It is the Sunroof Control Module that gets reflashed. Is that part of the PCM or is it a totally separate module that can be flashed without affecting the PCM? I need to have this done too. Do I take out my B&G and put in my stock PCM? (If so, when I put the B&G back in will I have the heartbeat problem back again?) If I leave in my B&G will it overwrite anything and render my B&G flash usesless?
Ahhhh! But of course! Is their any other kind? lol Hopefully, if this becomes a headache for me...I can at least save you the trouble...I would just put the stock PCM back in to be on the safe side.
i THINK its separate...but dont quote me on that one...did you try to flash it back to stock and then redo it? and its not a sick joke by me its what they told me hahaha...:moon:
Not sure why the SR Module would have ANYTHING to do with the tune. They guys probably cut a wire or turned the SR off. I would definitely explain this to the Service Advisor while they still have the whip.
my understanding is the sunroof modules is done with out touching the tune of the pcm. i had mine replaced many moons ago and i had left in the b&g..... got the car back and all was fine. the tech told me that flashing things like the tcm, sunroof module, nav, or any other module will not effect the pcm programming.
Sweeet. Thanks guys...ya I don't know what the hell the subwoofer heartbeat has to do with the sunroof module but whatever. As long as it's not tied to my pred tune than I'm good. They'll fix it...they've been decent thus far...unless they cut some wire to my sunroof haha.
Thanks! That was the answer that I was hoping to hear. That makes total sense to me but my dealer's service manager had no clue. I also asked the question to Dave at B&G but maybe I was not explaining it clearly. He had no idea what a Sunroof Control Module was.
No sh!t, I do not know what they have to do with each other either. I also heard that you can have the problem without even having a sunroof (I guess the car has the sunroof control module even if there is no sunroof.) I'm glad some members had some insight on this.
Got all new brake pads and rotors today and I barely had any scoring at all on any of the brakes but forgot to tell them about the sunroof since they also did the undercoating over...I'll return it back to the stock tune and bring it in again and report back...
That should answer your question... When you return it to the stock tune with the Predator. If the sunroof starts working and you get the heartbeat back then the "sun roof control module" is part of the PCM. Since it seems they flashed the "sun roof control module" and you retained your Predator tune then it's a separate module. (now I'm going to have to go RTFM)
Ok, did that. That was great! Everybody should browse the manual every now and then even if they don't have a need to :beerchug: Did you know that the Front Control Module will: Turn the horn off if it detects that it might be damaged (on too long)? Turn the windshield washer motor off after 10 seconds of continuous operation? just amazing. So, it looks like the sunroof module is integrated with the sunroof motor and, naturally, is on the CAN bus. I'm guessing that's where the heartbeat comes from. The thing was probably continually polling on the can bus even with the car off? So it's completely separate from the PCM. and here's some neat stuff about the EFL (Excessive Force Limitation) function of the sunroof. If your sunroof gets wedged or you want to keep OddJob firmly clamped in there:
Dammit! You're are a fountain of useful information! haha. Hey Q, can I call you when I need to assemble something...since I hate reading instructions but love this forum!!
