Yeah, it's unfortunate things have died off. I can say I'm one of the people who stopped going. Then again I usually only went to a few meets myself. I have seen a few people dwindle off, sell the car, move away, or get caught up in work or family and such. I like a few other people have school as a high priority. I don't have a job and haven't made the effort for one because the last thing I need is to be going to college at the cost of thousands of dollars and to fail classes or screw up because of the alternate stress and time taken up by something else, plus time to breathe is nice. On top of that as everyone knows, my car runs like shit, I don't have the money to fix it, nor am I mechanically inclined to adjust, remove, install things myself without probably screwing something up. And the schedules for me and anyone offering to help never seems to match up or I can't fix it without a part or the idea doesn't go through for whatever the reason may be. So that kinda has me depressed and sucking the interest out of me to be quite honest because I'm limited so much with the car, I can't go WOT without being in some sort of danger to the motor.

When I went to the flsrtoc meet in South FL this past weekend I saw how close their community was and it actually got me thinking the same thing. If you want my personal opinion, I think it might help to do something not car related once in a while. A trip to an amusement park, paintballing, go karting, any sports watching playing or going to events and going out to eat, a movie, bowling, road trips, bbq's, the beach, the scavenger hunt jason brought up etc. We after all communicate with each other on a daily basis through the forums, so we end up going to a parking lot and standing motionless in 1 spot talking about whatever we need to, just to make conversation assuming we haven't already discussed it on the forum. Once in a while someone has a new idea or a new mod and that's the highlight of the night, or someone gets into a race or some idiot does something stupid that we get amusement out of I don't know. IMO it seems like we need a change of scenery or to rattle the cage a bit just for variety and to keep things interesting, keep us active as friends as fellow car enthusiasts or whatever you want it to be.

I agree with much of what Jesus was saying about the meets. Besides family, jobs, different hours we all work, some of the guys also go to school, which takes up a lot of time. Some of the students don't have jobs, which I can understand, which can make it difficult with the outrageous gas prices. Some of us also live really far, which makes it difficult and costs lots of gas $$$.
Also for some of you, your wives and girlfriends like to hang out with the SRT guys so that makes it easier. My g/f could care less about cars, so sometimes that can be a slight problem. That's why you never see her.

I think bowling would be cool for a sat night meet. I've mentioned it at least twice before. If not every sat night, maybe once a month or every other sat for bowling if people are having fun with it. I have a bday party this sat night so I can't make it out.

At least you guys in Hillsborough get a fairly decent response. Most of you know that I've been trying to put together a Pinellas meet for the last few months with little to no success, although there has been a few signs of interest.

Planning in advance for "bigger meets," dyno days, and track days definitely helps, but as we have seen, planning well ahead doesn't always guarantee a good turnout.
I've always enjoyed hanging out with you guys whenever I can come out and will continue to do so when I can. I think some of us are slowly recovering from x-mas spending and eagerly waiting our tax returns.
If you haven't heard, Bush is giving out free money to both unmarried and married couples sometime around June this year to help "stimulate" the economy.

Maybe our meets are just going through a "slow" season. I really have a feeling that things will liven up soon. I know it's hard to stay positive after being let down, but try to keep your head up.

that's what I'm thinking too. I know that I'll be more active once school is out for the summer.

I agree with you, Bryan. Even going to see a movie at night time is fairly easy to plan. If some people can't make it one night, then we plan again on another night to give other people a chance to make it.

And I know Jesus wasn't targeting me about the drinking thing. But just in case a few of you believe it when Tony called me an alcoholic (i know he was joking) LOL, I only drink a couple of times a week, and not heavily by any means. I don't need to drink to have a good time, but at the same time if I do have a few beers I hope no one judges me, just the way I don't judge people who don't drink, cause that would be stupid. As long as most people are having a good time that's the most important thing for me. I know not everyone can be made happy, but if the majority is content, then AMEN to that.
For awhile I used to have a few beers almost everyday, but those days are long gone.

+1. i have a calculus test every monday, but i could use a few hours of no studying to hang with the guys...

or another idea is a monthly meet. like every 2nd sat nite of the month we can meet uop and have dinner or something. biweekly can cost alot of gas money for everyone(i could only imagine how much franks and jesus' pockets are hurting) plus the chances of getting a ticket...

i just feel like a douchebag for not being able to go to sonics every sat.

I think the install and tuning of the cams and gears is actually more than the cams and gears themselves.... LOL. I'm exaggerating but you get the idea.
