    BWoody Jeep CAI vs GSM:

Just got back from the dyno, and here are the results. We made three pulls with each CAI trying to keep ECT and oil temps as close as possible to each other between runs. SAE correction was used, and we used fourth gear as always.

    1) BWoody

    Oil: 199F
    ECT: 195F

    401rwhp/399rwtq

    2) BWoody

    Oil: 201F
    ECT: 190F

    401rwhp/400rwtq

    3) BWoody

    Oil: 204F
    ECT: 194F

    401rwhp/399rwtq

The 3 pulls with BWoody CAI:

    1) GSM

    Oil: 188F
    ECT: 190F

    388rwhp/387rwtq

    2) GSM

    Oil: 201F
    ECT: 195F

    388rwhp/385rwtq

    3) GSM

    Oil: 204F
    ECT: 195F

    390rwhp/389rwtq

I expected the results to be in favor of the BWoody but not by double digits. Even Rob and the other guys at the shop found it rather shocking. Regardless, because of this test and the dozens of other dyno/track tests performed by happy BWoody cusotmers I know which CAI is staying on my ride.
In closing I've said for some time that I knew 400rwhp/tq SAE was entirely possible with a stock longblock N/A 6.1 in a Jeep, and today that finally came to fruition. We don't need no stinking ported heads, in fact, with a little more tweaking from Dave @ B&G and removal of my cats, I don't see why 410rw isn't possible. We'll find out within the next week.

A few more pics of the parts in question:

Most important PID to log would be the IAT's. IAT's are directly responsible for pulling timing. IAT vs Spark. Also I strongly recommend you not to remove the cats "federal violation". Here in Cali they will impound your ride indefinatley for removing your cats. Get some hi-flow magnaflows or dynatech's. 200 cell count cat, doubt you would lose 2 rwhp with them in. BTW nice gains with the woody.

Thanks, and I know, we watched IATs but didn't log them they were nearly identical for all runs--tests were performed back to back with less than 15 minutes between sessions. High ECT can also pull timing.
Thanks for the reco but I'm not worried. I've run no cats on several different vehicles for well over a decade without issues. Thankfully I don't live in the Peoples Republik--I feel for you with all the eco nazi's and crappy 91 octane.
I have high flow 300cpi Random Tech's on there now, going catless to test the gain. I'll bet dollars to donuts there's at least 5-7rw in going without. Hopefully I can hit the dyno next week.

The high flow Magnaflow cats are not CARB (California Air Resources Board) approved yet either....listed for off-road use only. But they still look like legal cats till you go to get smog check.....
