Cloverfield was awesome. I took my fiancee and my best buddy to see it. They've been harping me for weeks and weeks since I've been slightly obsessive over the viral marketing of Cloverfield. There was a lot missing (from the back story) in the film, but overall I thought it was a good piece of film. If you have no clue what the hell is going on, check out this blog and dig through the archives from the beginning. It'll clue you in on the back story of the characters and some clues to the monster. CloverfieldClues.com
sweeeeeeeeeet... but im gonna wait to see the movie...i dont wanna know any more about it till then! haha
so we saw it last night.......i'm still not sure what to think. the movie itself was good. the ending sucked really large hairy sweaty monkey balls. i was very disappointed in how it ended. i should have seen it coming considering it's jj abrams/bad robot and it's the way that they do things, but all i will say is that there better be a part 2 and it better come out next week. overall i would suggest seeing the movie, but i would wait for dvd.
so your saying you did not like the ending? haha... eh what ill do is wait for it to be out for a while...then go to a random show that has like 5 people there for $6.50...that way its only a little more then renting it and you get to see it in a theater... im sure they are getting ready to put out part 2 on the 25th lol
It ended as expected based on the premise of the movie itself. (The recovered data is what you saw, so whatever was recorded was all we know). I will say, I don't know what the heck the monster truly was/is, but it sure did give me the heebie jeebies. I still firmly believe everyone should check it out in the theater. Unless you've got a wicked home theater system ... even then, movie theaters are fun experiences most of the time. I tend to go in the "off hours" though.
Awesome movie. I think the expectations of the movie will kill it for some people. If you stand back and say, "how could this movie end and still be feasible" this is it. Its not like the maincharacter is able to defeat it by himself and it's all hunky-dory at the end of the movie. It ends the only way it would make the most sense to end. So.... A. Who saw the object make a splashdown in the ocean during the last flashback scene? They say it may have been the monster a month earlier. B. Did anyone stay ALL the way throught the credits?
I agree, the movie ended the only way it could logically end and even though it sucked ( only cuz I wanted to see more) I still thought the movie as a whole rocked. I just hope there is a number 2 because if they can do this and make they're money back in one weekend then why not make a two? Maybe the next one can explain more and give some sort of closure as to what it was. The whole movie kinda seemed like just a teaser for something bigger. Like a really loooooonnnngggg preview or something
yup. Although most sequels wreck movies... I think they could show a non-sequel / non- prequel, and have another movie from someone elses point of view. This movie wasnt about the monster as much as it was about the friends and sacrifices. Maybe another movie from the perspective of another family, or group of friends? I think then we might be able to see the view from a group that is put in a different situation, and maybe more will be revealed.
Yay, someone that understands the way this whole thing went down. :good: Reply to "a": Yep, I saw it. Current projections are that it was either a youthful creature, or a piece of ChimpanzIII. If you don't know what ChimpanzIII is, PM me. There's lots of things that were hinted at by the viral marketing that, well, wasn't explicitly talked about in the movie. Reply to "b": Yep, stayed to the end. Again, to keep it spoiler free, PM me. :shok:
PM sent...in a few. I know almost everything about the movie except for the viral marketing, and I think that is why I was some people didnt enjoy it. I had NO knowledge about the background.
Lol, I knew it was out there. Saw that clues site when it was released, but didnt follow it. Insanely in depth. Danka!
