I'm going to the track on Wednesday night and was thinking of changing the version of my Diablo tuner from the latest one witch is the 18t to the 16. I've read that people like the 16 version much better than the others. What do you guys think I should do? Do you think it will make a difference?
Hmm. I wonder the same thing. I am still running 16a and it works well. I have 17 and 18 now too. Would make for a good test. Do you have a laptop? You could always run for run comparison.
That's a good idea, I don't have a laptop but I have a friend that has a bee with the exact same mods as my car, either I race the guy, me with the 16a and him with the 18t or I'll get a laptop and run the car under the same conditions the same night with both version. Anyway, I'll post the results tomorrow, but if anyone here has done that experiment, please, let me know...
Seriously doubt you will see any measurable difference simply by running one version against the other. From what I understand, updates 17 and 18 addressed issues unrelated to the actual supplied performance tunes. For example, here are the fixes for 18 (courtesy of Mike from Diablo): * Idle surge fixed in all calid's * removed knock sensor disable option * removed autostick feature for 2007 SRT8, did not work properly (If using an 06 TCM in your 07 SRT8, use 8r17) * added Spark MBT table adjust, same as the WOT spark setup, 3 rpm ranges. WOT spark and MBT spark needs to be adjusted by the same values. * added support 06 SRT8 Jeep, calid 05030369AC * fix for 06-07 5.7L autostick feature * fix for log data upload to dataviewer, crashed when selected certain pid's
I've seen different people say that the shifting of the 16a is much better than the shifting of the 17 or 18 version... I don't know if that means that my car will go faster on the 1/4 mile, but I just wanted to see if anyone had tried one version against the other.
Hey guys, so I went to the track yesterday and the results are as follows... 16a....... ET 13.15 with a little tire spin in second gear, I was one of the first cars to race so I guess the track was not worm enough. 18t ..... ET 13.13 Both times, the car temp was around 145 degrees at the lights and the weather was around 70 degrees. I don't see much difference between both versions. I ordered a CMR email tune and might be able to have it 100% completed by next week. I'll do the same type of comparison and will post the results...
That's pretty good. What were your 60 ft times aren't you curious to know what the DA and corrected times were Carlos? Give us the scoop. Humidity, track elevation etc. Was it in Monterrey?
Yes it was in Monterrey, the track is around 1,750 feet. I'll try to check the DA, haven’t done that in some time...About the 60 ft times, they don't give us a ticket, we only get the RT and ET, that's it. There is another track about an hour from my house, but I don't like the people down there...
Thanks Brudda! Pretty good times. What track did you hit? I've herd some like the 16 better than some of the newer ones due to the shifting.
Super Bee at the track Guys, I forgot to mention that there was a 2007 Charger SRT8 Super bee at the track last night, I had a chance to check it out and we both have very similar mods, CORSA exhaust, high flow air filter, the only difference between both cars is that he has a B&G stage 2 computer instead of the Diablo tuner. He also has a set of 315/35R20 tires in the back and 275/40R20 in front. I have a set of 275/40R20 in the back and 245/45R20 in front. The guy ran 3 times; he had an ET of 13.35 twice and 13.36 his last race. My ETs were 13.13 and 13.15. We were both icing our intake between races we both had our 25 cent mod cooling down our engines. I was monitoring the bees engine temperature before each one of his races and it was around 145 degrees at the lights just like my car. The only thing that I can think of could be making such a difference is the tuner. Is the Diablo tuner that much better than the B&G Stage 2?
