Now that I have had the chance to drive my PT Turbo for a couple hundred miles I see a slight oil leak on top of the back of the engine. I should have taken a picture, but it a tube that curls up and goes into what looks like a brass fitting about three inches long that goes into the top of the motor. Seem ONLY to leak when at a higher throttle; assuming it must be something for the turbo. I check the tightness of the brass looking fitting and it was tight. I wonder IF this has an "O" ring that may be bad. Next nice day I may try to take it loose, but I want to be very careful. Any one have an idea what I'm referring too?? Thanks for any and all input!
I know that line. The top line is the turbo oil feed. directly below it is the return line. the 2 next to the firewall are coolant supply and return. I believe to take it off is a 16mm wrench. Its been a while but almost positive. the lower 3in section i dont remember if its the same size or if its bigger. They dont have O-rings. You could try taking it off and cleaning it and using some Plumbers tape/Pipe thread tape.
Thank you so much for the response. Bad weather here now; Cold and Rainy, so I won't be messing with it until it clears up. I really appreciate the comment. I'll post UP when I get to really check it out.
I cant say for sure since its been years since i've pulled a turbo out of a PT. Never hurts to check but yeah one would fix it. EDIT: the bottom part of the 3" extention would have a washer. the top part wont. Look at 5 & 9.
I am 90% sure there is a copper crush washer on each side of #9. I had to take that off on my NSRT-4 back in the day since I couldn't do the AGP "rice plate" install without taking that thing off.
Thank you so much guys! Yesterday I took off #9 wrapped the threads with the white tape, put it back on and made sure it was tight. Took it out bit for spirited driving and came back home and NO leaks; at least so far!
On a neon yes there is because the tube comes in from the side. you have on top and bottom and that 16mm bolt on top. On the PT its top fed. If you can see it has a nipple on tip. If you look at #26 and #28 you'll see the washers are #29 there are none on the oil feed line for #9 on the PT. You must have large hands if you had to take that line off to install the plate LOL. :ronlove:
First day I've let 'er sit. Really nice 77 degrees and took our my SuperCharged 300SRT; I swear this car scares the crap outta me ~ it likes to go sideways OFTEN!
