hi guys, I have yet to see one in person, but the wife looked at one in a showroom, didn't get to drive, and typical salesman tried to get over. We have an 04 AWD loaded (all but Navi) Aviator, books trade-in at least $18500 on a bad day....retailing on a lot for $23-$25500. 37k miles. Anyway, she is looking at an orange decently equipped, no big stereo option one. They appraise our truck at $14k trade in and knock $400 off their sticker price. She humored them for a minute and left. She was impressed with the Caliber, but as me thinks it's a little small for us and the 2 young kids. I am still trying to push her towards a Navy loaded TrailBlazer SS. Just so I can tweak it into the low 12s and have 2 tough SUVs in the garage. We'll see. We are trying to come out with a way cheap payment or lease the new vehicle for practically nothing a month, as the $48k MSRPd Aviator is paid off. It is super nice, and nothing wrong with it, we have had it 3 years and I am just bored with it. Will need tires in about 4 months, and is just out of 3/36k warranty, so looking to trade for something else pretty cool. With slightly better gas mileage. The Mazda CX-9, top of the line blue mica looks pretty good too. later, -Chuck
sweet ride. just checked out one today at the dealer and was pretty impressed. i was not sure about them when they first came out, but the srt version is pretty slick!!!
I cant' wait to get my SRT4 Caliber. With the 2 kids you should have enough room. My mom has a Caliber R/T and she dragged my nephew and his friends around in it no trouble at all.
Hi Cobra. I'm in need a 2nd car that was reasonably priced, had decent power, looked cool, and could be tweaked on with good HP potential. The SRT Caliber fit those exact requirements. What was the asking price? I had a dealer, around here, tell me that his was THE only one around and they wanted $3,000 MORE than the sticker price. Ha,ha,ha! I walked out the door and said "Have a nice day." That was a few days ago. Another dealer just got one in thats more local to me so I'm going to give that one a shot. Atleast this new dealer said they'll start at sticker price. Compared to the two SUV's you have in mind it is does seem to be a bit smaller. I too was concerned about interior space but it looks to be just big enough, i have two little ones myself. I would imagine it would get better gas mileage than the other two. It rides pretty good too. If you want to tweak it there's already a company ,DCR, on here that has gotten almost 400whp with limited testing. I am on their call list for when they put together some packages. There was a decent amount of torque steer at WOT. But that may be just me not being used to FWD cars. I can't believe I am actually liking a car like this but somehow it just sucked me in:dunno2: I do think it would be funny boosting the crap out of it and surprising more than a few unsuspecting others! Congrats on being the world record holder for a GCSRT8! There are a few SICK builds coming up to take a shot at the title. The simplicity of your combo rocks though, more bang for the buck.
