I installed the Tranzformer yesterday and realy like the hard "old school" shifts......but it has inhanced something I have noticed before.....feels like the TCM/PCM is pulling power during shifts....nothing major but it is there....I dont remember this with the 2006 I had...I have read some mention of this and seems to be common in RTs but not so common in SRTs.. What is the fix for this?....MTCM?
I am VERY happy with my TranZformer. Everyone should get one. A few nice features make it worth every cent. I don't seem to notice the drop in power on shifts. What makes you think this is happening. Do you feel it in every gear? Sent from NS1Droid using Tapatalk Pro.
The PCM times and commands the shifts. It's going to cut power during the shift and do some torque management. The TranZformer changes line pressure whatever at the TCM/transmission. I suppose the shifts are happening faster (duration) and the TCM is still operating as if it was the stock amount of time? You think that could be it? If that's the case I would expect the same with the MTCM?
No, I didnt mean that the Tranzformer caused this...it was happening before but a little more pronounced with the quicker shifts. I was reading on the LXF that some cured this problem with the MTCM.
Is it enough to where you might see it in a log? I think the RPM line should look pretty straight. Maybe a bunch of knock retard in the bottom part of each gear (after shift or lower rpms)?
I guess I need to do a data log....havent had a chance to read the Diablo manual on how to do that though....
It's been so long since I used the predator logging... Should be a how-to somewhere. It's not all that difficult but the wording on the instructions wasn't so clear as I remember. and it's kind of tedious to select parameters but once you select them they stay there until you change it. The predator only saves the last log taken. When you log again it overwrites the last one. I used to take my laptop with me to upload them as I took them if I was going to be checking on more than one log's worth of stuff. Should try to keep the number of parameters down to 8 or less or the sample rate can get too slow. I vaguely recollect you're probably going to want (names probably aren't right) spark cyl #1 stknk ltknk rpm Pedal position (might be about 3 of those. think you want "D") or throttle position... something to tell when you have your foot on the floor. speed (maybe? Can't remember if it can log Current Gear) Looking for a power drop within a gear you probably don't care about any of the temps. Something like that.
Thanks Dave....the manual is very vague on everything....will try and get a log this week and see whats happening...
Great news Larry, glad to hear it's running well. Probably good ole TM rearing it's ugly head. A good tuner can get rid of it.
So is the TranZformer still available? How is it compared to the silver box? Do u need blue tops if using TranZformer? Modified valve body? Thanks james
Should be James, see here: http://www.zautotech.com/tranzformer.html Never owned the silver box, but from what I've gathered, it's like going from analog to digital in comparison. With the Tranzformer you can adjust (tune) it via laptop or desktop. No blue tops needed, but they can run together with Tranzformer. No modified valve body needed, but they can run together with the Tranzformer. I really like mine, for the shift firmness, quickness of shift, and fully adjustable...plus it has some cool features like Steering Wheel Shifts, and Line Lock...Cool little device.
