I'm figuring this is probably related to my tires which are most likely due for a change (getting them checked tomorrow if the store's open). But figured I'd throw it out there in case anyone had any ideas.

This evening on my way home from the in-laws in San Jose, I made a rather non-eventful (slow, methodical) u-turn. I drive nice when I have family in the car. As I came out of the turn to straighten up and give it a little throttle, all hell broke loose. There was the unpleasant sensation of my ABS trying to kick in when I wasn't using the brake, and then after I threw it in park and then back in drive, the ESP/BAS and the swervy car lights came on. The CEL did not come on. I drove down the block, pulled into a gas station, turned off the car and let it sit for a minute, then restarted the car, the ESP/BAS and swervy car lights were still on but went off and I drove home without incident. I was planning on putting off my 60k services until next year when I have more funds, but I guess I'll have to come up with money for that and for tires before the year is out.

Oh and mileage is 62725 miles, and the car just turned 6 years old a month ago tomorrow. I have not done anything with the suspension, other than the swaybars and I have not done anything related to the engine block or transmission.

Probably nothing Tam...I have had the BAS/ESP light come on when doing a slow tight manuver...happened in both the 06 I had and my current 07...in fact the 07 did it last week...like you said turn off and restart and it was gone..

Oh I'm guessing it's no biggie, just wishing it wouldn't happen when Marc's in the car. She only acts like a junker when he's there. First the vents popping out in his lap and now this.

I am 100 miles below you and the only thing I have done as far as close to a 60k service is I changed the rear diff fluid. I am getting the full trans service and power steering fluid change right before Springfest.. you should be good to go with just getting the services done in pieces..

Mine went bonkers after a track day. I boiled the brake fluid. After things cooled down I restarted, turned lock to lock, drove a few blocks and it went out. That was a year ago. It's nothing. The computer got confused and had an attack. That can happen to anybody ..... right? If it happens a few times then you should start wondering if somethings wrong. Remember, if it's not broken, don't fix it! Being southern you should know this.

A long time ago there were a few people who said they did something like a U turn and accelerated and went into limp mode. I don't recall anyone saying something was broken or it did it chronically.

Thanks for bringing me back to reality. I'll be getting the 60k service done piecemeal over the next few months. It was just weird because it was such an easy u-turn, though I had started the car only a few seconds beforehand without letting it warm up. Hmm...

Yeah, I was one of those who had the ghost ESP when I was stopped at a light and someone passed me fast enough to shake the car. I just don't like the idea of the car stalling out when I'm in traffic, though its rare someone would be riding my bumper through a u-turn. *deep breath*

Sorry for resurrecting old threads....but an inquiring mind would like to know if this problem was ever fixed, and if the root cause was ever discovered?
Especially since I'm about to drop 45k frogskins...

I had a similar problem happen to me on a M Roady, except I was just going straight. It turned out there was a loose connection on the Yaw computer terminal under the driver's seat. It affected my ABS & DSC (Dynamic Stability Control)...not sure if this is the same as ESP/BAS.

It hasn't repeated itself, in that corner or elsewhere. And by the time I had the money to take it to a dealer I trust, they couldn't check for codes. So I'm thinking a mix of stuff on the road (gravel, debris) and the fact I'm overdue for a 60k tune-up/service. C'mon tax return.

Not sure if I mentioned it above, I've replaced the stock swaybars on my Charger with much beefier Hotchkis front and rear. I also have had her out to more than a few track events, so its not like she's brand new and I don't baby her by any means.
