[QUOTE1fastsedan]In preparation for my kit arriving, Ralph (MOL SRT8), his dad, and I built my differential on Monday. It has a 31-spline Eaton Truetrac, Ford Racing 3.08 ring and pinion, and Strange Engineering 31-spline axles with c-clip eliminators. Went together pretty well, got the pinion set-up right on the first try. 10 thousandths back-lash and you can see the nice gear mesh pattern in one of the pics.

A great choose in locker I used the Eaton 31- spline Truetrac locker in my car. It's really quiet and I have hammer a lot on my car and no problem. I wish I would have upgraded the axles back then but after reading your suggestion about finding out how much power the stock 8.75 can handle and it's weak points I need to upgrade before anymore power adders. I can't wait to see the car.

    Busy first day.

We started the build today. We're mocking everything up, then we're going to tear it all down for finishing (paint, powder coat, and polishing). So we may not be following the manual. We got the front and rear suspensions finished today and got the major steering components mounted. I'm definitely going to need to use a rear sump oil pain with where the electric steering motor mounts, or move it.

And we finished off quite a few boxes of parts. :)

Dang. I'd love to be sitting in that chair watching. Heh, I could read the manual direct things, lol.

I forgot about the electric steering motor... You don't just lose power assist, you lose steering right?

The steering is normally manual, the electric motor is a power assist. This car needs a tiny steering rack so its too short to run a traditional hydraulic power steering rack.

Got a little more work done on the car today. Went over to CNC brakes and talked with the owner about making our big brake kit and a dual master cylinder set-up. Decided on 6-piston fronts with an 11" and change rotor and 4-pistons in the rear.

Once we got back, we cleaned up the garage and stored parts we're not going to need for a while. Then got to work re-clocking the electric steering power assist motor and trial fitting the engine and transmission. Definitely going to need some custom motor mounts, a rear sump oil pan, and different than stock accessory arrangement.

Did you just build that garage for the project? You got a ceiling hoist? I'm turning greener and greener :D

I wish. It's Ralph's (MOL). His family has been in racing for many years, so they had the hoist added when the house was built. It has pulled MANY Chrysler motors over the years.
