Diabetes checkup today. Down 20 lbs, 1 shirt size, and 2 inches off my waist since May 28th. My A1C was 6.0, under 5.7 is where you are without diabetes. Cholesterol under 200 without meds, LDL cholesterol is 129, all other cholesterol and triglycerides are in normal range except a couple within 1 or 2 points of normal. Blood pressure was 128/78 and has been testing at home in the 117/72 range. My doctor was so impressed with what I've done, he doesn't want to see me for 6 months instead of 3. Cut back my diabetes to half in the evening due to my blood sugar numbers being to low in the morning. If this was my 1st checkup, my doctor said he would think I was just pre-diabetic, not diabetic.
Wow, that's outstanding Hal! How bad was it getting to where you're at? ...i should start doing something pre-emptively.

No exercise, not completely a diet, more of a lifestyle change. Meant changing when you eat items and removing others. I have a couple of cheat meals a week. I also have been taking a tablespoon of cold pressed extra virgin olive olive twice a day in tomato juice twice a day. Both have very many benefits to your body. My ice cream is gone and replaced with sugar free pop-sickles. I wasn't really a sweet eater, but I have eaten some 72% cacao chocolate bars which has good benefits also. I don't count carbs or serving sizes. Even eating a pretty big bowl of spaghetti with a non meat sauce and no cheese doesn't really push my blood sugar out of line. We use crushed red pepper for some extra flavor. We've even found some vegetarian meatballs and Italian sausage that when cooked in the sauce actually aren't too bad. You can go to Wendy's for a baked potato and side salad for lunch. It takes some discipline, but is very doable. We will be having spaghetti with meat balls, 1 small piece of garlic bread, and a nice salad with the recommended salad dressing, but we add Good Seasons Italian dry mix, you know, the once with the shaker bottle. We had home make pork chili verde with peas and another green salad with tomatoes for dinner last night. Cindy is doing it to and has lost about 8 lbs. Most of our weight loss has been in the last 2 months. If you know Cindy, she is a or should I say way a carboholic. She has quit drinking Pepsi, and only has some diet cola when eating Mexican or Italian. Most of the time she's drinking water and diet orange. We both feel so much better.

great news Hal.. keep up the good work... I was diagnosed 4 years ago but was able to get similar results as you.. but I am on meds.. for cholesterol, blood pressure and metformin.. all small doses & taken only once a day.. my best results are eating smaller meals more often.. So I do eat breakfast lunch & dinner, as well as have two small snacks at about 10 and 3 & sometimes a snack before bed time .. small is better occasionally I do splurge and have ice cream with chocolate sauce or a 31 flavors mint chocolate chip or A&W root bear float.. my A1 is below 6 and my blood sugar levels are between 120 - 130 in the morning (always have been high in the morning) and will drop to 90- 100 in the afternoon.. I drink diet sodas , or ice t (unsweetened) or water with a slice of lemon.. and vodka one or twice a week. (Ultimate is my favorite and puts the Goose to shame) you know it is good when even Bev Mo locks it up.. weight loss is small but continuing in the right direction.. I do not plan on living forever, but not rushing into the grave either.. But I am making time to enjoy life more...
