hello everyone! I usually just listen people say its safer that way, but now big problemo....a metallic event occured on my 6.1 hemi a spring fell into the well and blew up a piston. Ideas as to what happened?
k, its GC SRT, the heads and cam are aftermarket need to find out the make, I know me bad, left red light moderate lift off other lane was ford escape so you get the idea. Motor is out and at machine shop, sorry no pics! other mods Nag1 tranny, magnaflow cat-back,kooks headers, daiblo pro, underdrive pullykit,
If you have aftermarket heads, its a 50/50 shot that they have aftermarket exhaust valve springs...and several brands of those are known to fail. If it does have OEM springs, a high lift cam can coil bind them. I had Manley exhaust valve springs, well until this ( http://srtconnection.com/forums/showpost.php?p=312088&postcount=1) happened anyway.
wow, saw the pics and that was with manly springs....the heads are stock they were ported to match the Arrington motor specs and the cam was a comp cam.
