Recently I have researched several vendors on installation of a performance Cam. So far i have found prices in the range of 1200-1300 plus dyno tuned/1695 everything and dyno tune/ and 3000-3500 everything plus dyno tuned. My question is it really that difficult to install a cam or is this parts and labor that cost the most. If it's majority labor i think this is something i might try myself or is this a bad idea i have never installed a cam before but from what i have found this is something that you can do with the heads still in tach. Please opinion everything helps.
It's time consuming, especially the first time on an LX, and for you, on anything. It really depends on what your comfortable at tackling, changing a cam is not your basic stuff, but it isn't brain surgery either.
lol, I was just thinking... that's exactly the kind of job you wait for Erik to be passing through for. All the quality, know how, and experience but no downtown prices. No gumball machine and you supply the garage.
My cam and heads r installed what is the break in time for a cam I have heard 10 min 1500 to 2000 rpm and 30min its a inertia srt max any help is appreciated
AMEN, when I broke my bike in I took it to the highway, taking it easy the three miles there to let it warm up and then revd its tits off!!! She ran like a dream after that and when I totaled it at a trackday I got anotherone just like it, only someone had not broken it in the way I had and it runs with considerably less power...
