BTW you guys are a riot stirring things up over there. The way I see it product results will only really be proven when the hearsay challanged. Nice job!

surprised you guys have not jumped all over this example, 1) how does one introduce ACES IV into a fuel system and only certain pistons will benefit? Shouldn't a side by side test be done at the same time in the same running conditions if so there is no way to eliminate a certain piston from getting the snake oil...I mean Aces I.

2)how do we know those pistons came from the same engine and were tested at the same time, were there 2 similar builds done at the same time and Car A got the ACES IV treatment and CAR B did not and they ran at the same time for 20 races?

Better to drop back to BND's explanation of how they cure the "hemi tick" and what causes it in the first place. The moly wearing off the piston is part of that.

First this from an SRT Engineer Chat:
    This from BND...

Natural oil has a shelf life (not that a winter would be so bad).
    Synthetics not so much.

The reason you would want to change your oil after the car sits over a winter would mostly be due to condensation. I suppose you could blend in some sort of dessicant that would alleviate that but I'm not sure it would be a good thing to have in oil. If the car is garaged where there aren't huge temperature swings over the winter then you would probably be just fine without changing it. Just let it warm all the way up first time you fire it in the spring, let the oil get fully up to temp and flash off the water. As long as it's synthetic, one type or another isn't going to make a difference. If it's natural, 3 or 4 months isn't such a long time anyway.

Have you brought it out of hibernation yet this year? If not, take an oil sample, spend $25 and send it to Blackstone Labs for analysis. Then you'll know for sure. Include in the notes that you're wondering about the effect of leaving it sit over the winter and they'll speak to that when they send back the analysis.

Yes, they solved that one (that's where the "blue" part of Quantumblue comes from).
No, the human race has not advanced to that level of technology yet. You are still classified as the 37th Wonder of the World.

[your fuel pump] needs plentiful or copious lubricity as well... Aces IV provides both plentiful lubricity AND copious lubricity.

Quantumblue is custom blended with an additive for sea salt if you live on a coast OR a different additive for road salt if you live in Ohio. There is a special additive for silicate if you live in ABQ.

    Crazy J,

Here is the thing. Who knows what Aces IV or QuantumBlue "custom" blends are. It doesn't seem that BND is ever going to divulge that information. All you seem to be able to get out of them is anecdotal testimonials. He posted those reports from the race car that is supposed to show the benefits of QuantumBlue over "Racing Oil"... (what is Racing Oil? or what brand was that? and what engine? etc. etc.

Let's just assume it did make the difference he is showing there. Do I need that? Below is my last Blackstone analysis. It doesn't look like I have anything that needs to be fixed in the first place. See if you have a problem first. Then consider solutions.

That's actually a really good idea. I have driven it twice so far though. Maybe I'll make that a priority next spring. Maybe I'll do it anyway when I change the oil just to see what's going on in there.

Dave (don't mind me calling you Dave do you?), your oil analysis seems real good, so in that sense I'm with you, why find solutions for something that obviously isn't a problem. I liked the idea of an oil blended to meet my conditions and as far as cost it really isn't any more expenseive then the synthetics I can get in my area. If I could get it to last 2 years then it works out cheaper. Not that $60/year is going to break the bank but I thought it was worth researching.

(lol, you can call me whatever you want :))

"I liked the idea of an oil blended to meet my conditions "

    Yea, that sounds good. But...
    1) Do you know that what you're using now isn't already perfectly blended to your conditions?
    2) Do you know that your current oil isn't good for at least 2 years and that QuantumBlue would be good for 2 years?
    3) You are assuming that your "condition" has some different requirements.
    4) You are assuming that your condition can be blended for.
    5) Exactly how and what would BND change in your custom blend different from the guy who races his car every day of the year?
    6) If they actually did give you a custom blend how would you know other effects it might have if you have no way of knowing what's in it?

Let's assume it's at least as good as the oil you use now.
Do you have an extended warranty? Does his oil qualify? They can't require you to use one brand or another but they can/do say it has to meet certain SAE specs. Does he have the SAE seals/certifications? or does he just say it meets/exceeds all SAE specs? Is that going to work for your warranty? I don't know, but my guess is that if it's custom blended it can't be SAE certified...because every order would be different?

The only way I'd use something like that is if I knew exactly what's in it. Since I'm not a motor oil chemist I would have to have it analysed to see if it was a good thing or bad thing. Or have it analysed frequently to see what the effect was on my engine. I'd probably do it every 500 for a few, then every 1000 for a few and then every new order to see if it was custom blended the same as the last time.

So if it was OK for my warranty there would have to be some significant benefit to offset the additional costs and risks. Mobil 1 is good for my warranty and I have reasonable confidence that the formulation is pretty consistent from can to can and from batch to batch. From my oil analysis it seems my engine is doing OK with it as well.

I guess the first thing I'd want to know is what, if anything, is different if you let the car sit over the winter. If there is something, then what does it take to compensate for it. I don't know. It might just be as simple as don't floor it until the oil has been up to operating temp for a half hour of normal driving, or let it idle for 15 minutes before driving it the first time. My oil changes have been every ~3K from 4 to 7 months apart. It was driven almost daily but the time between changes didn't seem to make a difference. Probably the worst (normal) driving scenario for engine wear and hardest on oil.

So that's the "do I have a problem" part and "if I have a problem what do I need to fix it".

I'm no different from a lot of folks in that I want the "better stuff" even if I don't need it... but I want to know exactly what it is and why it's better. I haven't seen any of that at all from BND. Just a lot of technical sounding nonsense words in place of specifics. Confusing generalities like "improved flame dynamics", "copicous lubricity", etc. It's like an infomercial nightmare. Mainstream products spend billions on advertising and they don't do that. Makes you wonder. Then there is implication that they sell primarily to commercial customers and have, for some reason, blessed one or two car forums agreeing to sell it retail. I didn't look, have they mentioned any of their commercial customers? That might be the case but then why put the effort into that sort of advertising/product promotion and their web page. Makes you wonder.

Do they have a patent? that would have specifics in it and would be public.

You've given me alot to think about and I'm glad I asked about this here. Thank you. I now feel that an oil analysis is the best starting point. I'll go from there.

    Lol...

my reply: "What is frictional properties?" (it's a lead-in)
didn't make the cut: "You need frictional properties to fix friction problems. It's like hair of the dog for hangovers".

How come nobody has sent a sample of his stuff to Blackstone for analysis?

Well, this guy's business model is obviously along the lines of "There's a sucker born every minute" plus when in doubt convince them with large, science-y words.
